rec630
Going though a review and customizing a few of the million settings on the new 2018 3.6R. Is there a way to delete station presets that were previously set? I know I can overwrite but wondered if there was a way to set one back to its original nothingness? The manual says nothing and Google would seem to say no. Also, have they reduced the max number of presets now? I drove a 2016 a couple of times and would have sworn the number of presets was something like 30 instead of the 18 in the 2018 unless theres a setting to define the max that I've missed. Found a post in an Outback forum for a setting to set the number displayed (max 36) but dont know how they got to that setting or the model year. zimbonies
In my 2015 3.6r, I haven't found a way to eliminate the previously set ones. And yes, there are 36 on mine to which you can have satellite, AM and FM stations preset. I have them mixed throughout...haven't found 36 stations that I like, but they're there. 18 seems more reasonable.

In that respect the current HU's operation is no different than the mechanical pushbutton car radios of 60 years ago. meaux
No, and this is nothing new. In that way the current HU's operation is identical to the mechanical pushbutton car radios of 60 years ago.Yep... For some reason I miss the 'Feel' of those things... Heck where I'm at, I only listen to 3 or 4 different stations anyway...

Didn't remember, but guess the ability to add, naturally had me looking for a delete. With the apparent limit change to 18 max, I've managed to use them all and wouldn't mind a few more. No deleting won't bug me unless I cancel XM In my 2015 3.6r, I haven't found a way to eliminate the previously set ones. If I didn't have XM, I would not be as challenged. I like the mix/match capability with band presets as my old car had 6AM, 12 FM and 12 XM, but 18 max is a bit low for me and wished they had kept the older higher limit. They must have done that in either the 2017 or 2018 model year.
meaux
What I do appreciate is having FM and AM on the same line without having to switch Bands...

Perfectly reasonable, IMO, but adding that capability to the user interface without increasing complexity might present a design challenge, though.
