Battery Drain question

Recommended Posts

Hi All,

I recently bought a 2006 Spec. B, the PO said there was a short in the radio. Is the radio the problem or is there something else on the circuit that's known to fail? I don't want to swap out the radio and find out the problem is something else.

If I don't pull the Audio/Navi fuse, pic attached, the battery drains over night. The ventilation system is on the circuit too, the fan doesn't work when the fuse is out.

Thank you for your assistance

Try unplugging the radio and see if your draw drops to an acceptable mA range (50 or below). You've done a good job so far, but now you have to go a step further. Unfortunately, you have to plunge into the depths of draw hell. Does that fuse only power the radio/nav and hvac? Is there any type of aftermarket electronic on the car?

Its not a common issue for something in the oem stereo/hvac to drain the battery.

You need to try and isolate the components. It’s pretty straight forward to remove the stereo/hvac. Try unplugging either the stereo or hvac and see if they are causing the drain. A used oem stereo/hvac goes for pretty cheap here on the forums if you need to replace it.

Thought i did. The radio draws a lot of power when the battery is first connected. After a couple minutes it no longer.

The CD changer is rotating and stuff, i don't know if that's your problem.
