rec630
Looks like I will continue to be hanging out here in the forum for a few years as I have purchased a 2018 3.6R with Eyesight. When the dealer preps a car for delivery, do they do anything beyond a basic checklist which I assume is provided by Subaru? Specifically, I am wondering if they check and apply the latest software and firmware updates e.g ECM for battery drain, NAV, etc or do they wait until a customer reports an issue or asks them to check at a service visit? Was wondering if it was worth asking them to get it current before taking delivery? Thanks
chowser51
Doesn’t hurt to ask but I would hope they take care of any TSBs or recalls before delivery.
securityguy
They will do any "recalls" and TSB updates if the vehicle is affected at delivery. Unless it is a critical update, they won't just check the software of your car for random updates to various control modules. When I bought my son's new 17 Impreza Limited back in September, I had the service department, with me watching over the techs shoulder, go through the entire car module by module to ensure that I had every single update regardless of how trivial it may have been. He hooked up his laptop and went to town on my car. Found three control module updates and another one for the head unit. Best to get it all done BEFORE you take delivery than after;)
tornichoe
Depending on where you are, the dealer experience will vary. I would tell them to apply all updates before you take the car. How detailed they go looking for updates will vary from tech to tech.
