ehsnils
Geek stuff below: Looks like Microsoft forgot to update the expiry date on an upgrade feature in Windows Update essentially disabling that feature. Looks like they have fixed it as it's claimed that there's a new file that can be installed from Microsoft, but I haven't tested it yet. Issue fixed. New cab as of 12-04-2017 18:35PM. Next time Windows Update checks for updates, it will install new auth.cab. <ServiceID>7971f918-a847-4430-9279-4a52d1efe18d</ServiceID> <CabVersion>8110</CabVersion> <IssuedDate>2017-12-01T00:00:00.0000000-00:00</IssuedDate> <ExpiryDate>2025-07-01T00:00:00.0000000-00:00</ExpiryDate> See post on page 7 by Matt Godin here: https://answers.microsoft.com/... [microsoft.com] I haven't tried it yet though. It may require you to stop the update service, rename the SoftwareDistribution directory as Administrator and then start the update service again though.
