go4two
Hi, I just found this forum and I hope this is okay to ask? I have had a 2005 GT Limited with the automatic transmission since 2009. I bought it from my brother (who bought in new), so I know what's been done to it. It has 160K miles on it. Anyways, I am going to sell it as I just had to put $850 into it for a new radiator and water pump, and I don't want to put any more money into it. What should I get for it. It has some cosmetic damage on the exterior, but not anything major. The interior is very good. Overall, I would guess that it is in good condition given KBB's rating system. I had the head gasket replaced 4 years ago along the idlers, etc. It runs great, but things are starting to break. Damn thing always burned oil although there wasn't any leaks? Never did like that. thanks
Holla
On the east coast and midwest I'd probably ask $3,999 for it. If you're on the west coast it's worth a bit more. Realistically, an automatic 05' sedan with 160k on it isn't worth a whole lot at this point.

I wasn't sure if there was a demand for these or not? The turbo in it would make most teens drool if they had it. Ok, I'm in Montana, so I'll start at $4k and go from there. bergs
FWIW, I can't move my 2005 with similar mileage for the asking price of $2900.

wbrawley
^what he said. When I had my head gasket replaced the mechanic looked around for used engines and they were going for $2,000+ with similar mileage to yours. And that was here in the southeast. go4two
Thanks fellers! I wouldn't even know how to begin to go about parting it out. I'm no mechanic, nor do I have the time to do that. Who could I go to that would be interested in buying it and doing that? I just need to get $3500 out of it!
aj_mariner
I would honestly start a craigslist account and post the car as is or a part out. See what kind of activity/offers you get from each side. Then drift to where the most inquiries are. There is a Subaru parts wholesaler in WA and use their new prices as a guide. Might be able to get well over $3500.

That's what I see them for around here even on the dealer lots when I was gonna scrap my 89K mile car and start off fresh. Merc6
The last time I saw a Red 05 sedan like that it was traded in and they blew the engine driving it around back. I forgot what they charged for that car, I purchased the shortblock from under them before they could use it on that car after I gave up on buying a running GT and ditching my dead one. There is a red wagon that gets gas at the Costco near me. The only time I see a GT in the wild. 2005 Satin White Pearl Subaru Legacy 2.5 GT Unlimited 5EAT (Project Car) 2019 Agate Black Ford Explorer XLT 4WD (DD)
