citadel
Probably 150lbs. lighter with that horsepower. Hmm, Good Cracker!
Pilot1226
Might even be lighter than that. The EZ is a beast. The question is will the reliability of the FA24 equal or surpass the EZ? I'm not convinced yet. And they still have to figure out what they're going to do about DI carbon buildup. I don't want to have to do a Walnut Shell blasting for $500+ every 60k. It's like they do this on purpose so you have to have a major service done at the shop... It used to be the timing belt every 105k, now it's WSBlasting every 60. securityguy
I think it's cheaper if they use acorn shells.....
meaux
Turbo = More Maintenance... No Thanks... I'm glad I'm gettin' a NA 6 before they're gone...
upstater
Unlikely that a Legacy will get a 2.4 DIT, when they have the 2.0 DIT in the WRX ready to go, an engine that already provides similar power output to the current 6 cylinder (though, it would probably be "detuned" from the WRX version -- nobody should expect to win off the line races with a WRX while driving a Legacy). Also expect a detuned SI-Drive CVT as the only option, no manual transmission in the Legacy, though the WRX and STI will be offered with both. Very likely that the 2.4 DIT will be the next STI engine, however they would tweak it the opposite direction (more boost) to keep the STI as their premium rally/sport car. Pilot1226
Turbo = More Maintenance... No Thanks... I'm glad I'm gettin' a NA 6 before they're gone... The two things holding me back are: 1) Easier maintenance on the oil filter access, less oil needed, and plug jobs and 2) Global Platform availability in 2020. meaux
no thanks i like my 87 octane reg gas no premium gas for me once you own a 3.6r you will never go back to anything less. :)Yeah, Premium Gas is another downer... Heck, I thought about the new Kia Stinger for about 3 seconds, but the Turbo and Gas requirement turned me off quick... No more Premium Cars for me... Dumped the Infiniti, BMW and the Porsche 968... $68 bucks of Premium yesterday in the 01' Lightnin'... Dang, that'll get me a whole 250 miles down the road before it stops in front of a pump again... I have to drive that Gas-Hog till the 3.6R gets in... My Son loves that thing or it would be gone too...
laufu
FYI, The new 2.4DIT is designed for 87 octane. If it is related to the FA or FB engines, the oil filter will be on top. I think the 3.6R is done after the 2018 year. Looking at the information published from a Japanese news site, Subaru expects to build 70,000 2.4DIT engines for 2018 starting in March. So that is 7000 engines a month. The article stated, Subaru expect to sell 5000 Ascents per month. That would leave 2000 engines/month unaccounted for, or (2000 * 10 month) 20k engines that are not in an Ascent. Now Subaru sells about 200k Legacy/Outbacks a year. So assuming if 10% of those buyers want the optional engine for the Legacy/Outback, that is 20k cars needing engines! A link to find a google translation of the Japanese news site where I got the numbers. https://forums.nasioc.com/forums/showthread.php?t=2858959
