Smokey_Randy
Hi all, this is my first post here, so sorry if I am in the wrong section to post this in. I have a 2008 Legacy GT, and there is an aftermarket stereo receiver and aftermarket trunk lights (both installed by previous owners). This issue only happens when it is cold out, but at night my car alarm has been going off for no apparent reason. It will usually happen once or twice a night if it is cold enough. It's loud enough to wake me up so I just hit the lock button on the key fob and it goes off normally. It never happens during the day, but I think that is because it doesn't get cold enough when the sun is out. Everything else electrical in the car works fine (apart from some of the steering wheel audio controls but that's unrelated to this). Has anyone seen this issue before? If not, does anyone have any ideas why the alarm is going off and how to fix it? I feel bad for my neighbors getting woken up at 4AM by my blaring car alarm every other night. apexi
How old is the battery? I quickly googled this because I thought I remembered hearing about this issue before on legacygt.com, but I couldn't find a specific thread about it. I did read about other car owners saying this could happen due to the battery voltage dropping too low.
Smokey_Randy
Bought it August of 2016 at NAPA, just their standard battery I'm pretty sure. I had it tested at NAPA this October and they said it is in good condition and putting out the right voltage.

ehsnils
I once had a problem with an alarm when I had a metal gas can in the car. When it got cold it made a noise and same when it got warm again. Maybe you have something that triggers the glass crash detector (if you have one).
