Questions about front end

Recommended Posts

I have a 2001 Limited GT sedan and i love it but i rear ended someone and i new a new front end. Since i need a new bumper, lights, hood, fenders, etc i thought about changing it up a little. I was thinking about instead of getting the original parts, wanted to see if the baja turbo hood would fit mine. And as far for the bumper what other bumpers fit? JDM front bumper? Or mine with a lip?

A Baja Turbo hood will bolt on no problem. The real problem is A. Finding one and B. Convincing someone to give it up. The Baja Turbo was a rare bird and finding a wrecked one with a good hood is even more rare. However, I have seen people who have spliced a 2nd gen hood scoop onto a 3rd gen hood. It looks really good and damn near close to the Baja Turbo hood scoop. JDM bumpers will fit, but they're not cheap. You will easily spend more than the car is worth just to repair the car with JDM or aftermarket parts.

My honest advice; find someone who is parting out a third gen and offer them $200 for the hood, fenders, grille, and headlights. If you want to switch it up, track down some LL Bean headlights. They are almost identical to JDM B4 headlights with the exception of clear corners.

Thanks for the info. I like the look of my bumper over the jdm one. Is there any front lips that will work with mine? I actually like the outback bumper more due to the bigger fog lights. Do those fit? As far as the hood i was just seeing if it would fit. I might ask some friends of mine that might be able to get me a good price.

I just looked and a whole JDM front end for around 750. Very interested in that deal.

Don't forget about freight. If you're a ways away from the seller, freight could be almost as much as the item you're buying after you factor in liftgate and residential delivery (which unless you know a shop that has a dock and a forklift that can unload it from the truck and onto a trailer, you're going to want those services). If you decide to pull the trigger, call the seller first. Have a few conversations with them. They may cut you a deal on what you need. When I bought my JDM EZ30, the seller was asking $1200 for it. I called them up and offered to pick it up myself. Upon arriving, I shot the breeze with them for a while and haggled the price down to $800 plus tax. Mind you, I also drove 2 hours to the shop.
