Jhammers
I have a 2001 legacy gt wagon, this morning the brakes went out, it looks like a leak on the front passenger side. Is this an expensive fix or is it something I can do relatively easily myself. This is my first subaru so I'm not sure on repairs with it.
MilesA
Subaru brakes are pretty similar to other Japanese cars. That said, if you don't have experience working with brakes, this is not a good time to start learning. Your safety and other people's safety is at stake. Either get someone more experienced to work with you or take it in to a mechanic that you trust. No need to go to the dealership.
RumbleRumble
Probably a bad brake hose. Check the brake fluid if it's low you got a leak. If you can change a caliper you can change a brake hose.
MikeC5
Replacing a bad brake hose could be pretty straightforward provided corrosion at the hard line end isn’t too bad. If you decide to tackle it, I recommend using a line wrench on the hard line to hose fitting. And be careful not to twist the hard line.
