2018 Legacy Sport or Premium with Moonroof OTD Price

Recommended Posts

Hey everyone - I'm currently on the market for a new car and have read amazing things about the Legacy. I test drove it, and was in love with it.

Now, I always do my negotiating at the end of the month, but need this car asap. So I was curious what some of the out the door prices you guys paid on the 2018 Sport model with just the Starlink or Premium with the moonroof.

Also, if anyone has some legit negotiating tips or advice, that would be awesome.

Thanks for the responses!

Go to True Car and get the best price there. If your job offers a benefit car buying service, use that price as well. I went to about 4 dealerships and made them fight over the pricing to the point I had gold plus warranty and fees included.

That price is honored here in NJ and I was able to use my ambassador coupon to get my final vehicle price down to $31,278 before taxes. If you want a coupon I’m sure someone here would be able to hook you up!

Out of the door was $33400

Thanks for the reply. I'm guessing you bought the limited? How do you like the car overall? This would be my first Subaru.

When you say go to dealers and fight over pricing you mean you got the out of door price and go on to the next dealer to see if they can beat it?

The True Car average on the Sport is $26,335, but I'm assuming that's before taxes and fees. I'm in NJ, so that's going to tack on about another $2000.

I did all my 'shopping' by e-mail... 3 dealers kept fighting till all but one dropped out of the game... Took a couple weeks but it's easier that way and they don't have the chance to pull their showroom tricks... :)

I'm waiting on a Black/Black 3.6R w/ remote start in December...

I'm trying to negotiate online but these dealers are crazy firm on the price. Roughy $27800 out the door which is a terrible deal on the sport in my opinion. I've countered offered on every offer and they never respond or trade to counter and say that's the best they can do.

If you aren't getting nav or eyesight you should be able to get OTD under 30k easily.

I'm looking for just the Sport with Starlink in white which is impossible to find. Called 7 dealers today and 2 said they had it in stock. Showed up at the dealer and the car wasn't there and they tried to get me into something I didn't want, so I walked haha.

Look at Prime Subaru in Manchester NH website for a price. That will give you a idea of the what to pay. I'll pass on untrue car as they were always high in anything I've looked at.

Thanks for the advice. I'm going to look for a reference on price. I agree, I always see the true car price and think I can do better than what they have on there.

I️ paid 27350 for my 13 sport so to me your deal is amazing 5 years later

It might be, but that's there first and only offer. Seems like they don't to budge at all on the offer. Tried counter offering and nothing.

How's your 13 holding up? This would be my first Subaru, and I want it for the long run.

They don’t need to budge bc, no offense, if you don’t take that offer someone else will. They’re not gonna sit on it very long. Side note, I’ve got 87k miles on my 13 and the car has been flawless. Not a single issue to speak of

Nah, you're right. I always buy at the end of the month because of the wiggly room for negotiations. But since I need the car asap, they legit don't want to negotiate haha.

I potentially have a deal in place on the Premium with a moonroof for 25,000 out the door. I'm ready to jump all over it. I want the Sport but that's a solid deal I think.

I’d do it but I’m not a sixth gen fan lol

I fell in love the second I drove it haha. But 25k out the door for the premium with the moonroof package is a solid deal. Hopefully I can get that done tomorrow. Would prefer the sport, but the price is legit on the premium.

Here's a cars.com search (https://www.cars.com/for-sale/searchresults.action/?mdId=21378&mkId=20041&page=1&perPage=50&rd=150&searchSource=GN_REFINEMENT&sort=price-lowest&stkTypId=28880&trId=51907&zc=07101) from Newark, NJ. Not sure where in NJ you are, but, you can change the zip code. If you're willing to drive a bit, might be cheaper deals to be had.

One thing to consider, if you don't have a trade dealers won't budge much. The don't make tons of money on the new car, but, it's your trade that has the markup, honestly.

Beyond that, check the search results and see what you can do to haggle dealers that are closer to you. GL!

Finally purchased yesterday. Got the 2018 Legacy Sports with Starlink for $27,000 out the door which included taxes and fees. Got pre-approved for a loan before going to the dealer. My rate was 2.99, but the dealer ended up getting 1.90 which saved me a few hundred dollars. I absolutely love the car.
