DaveWaters
Installed stage 2 setup last Monday. 06 LGT. Invidia uppipe, cobb downpipe, and invidia q300. Cobb ots 91 octane stage 2 tune. Drove it easy Monday. Gave it one short WOT back road run on Tuesday. AP showed 17.39psi peak boost. Checked my intercooler on Wednesday and found it loose and cracking on the end tank crimp nearest the turbo. I proceeded with the bulletproof mod so hopefully thats it for that. Question is ...why it boosted that high? Correct me if I'm wrong..I think its the uppipe.. and if so is it safe? The ots map peak is 16.5psi I believe. I have yet to go WOT again. MilesA
The map is set with target boost values. If boost can't be shed fast enough, it overshoots the target for a short time. Probably a combination of boost building very fast plus your turbo wastegate being small as IHI turbos tend to be. Remember that OTS maps are not ideal. Cobb used to offer a low-wastegate variant, normal-wastegate variant, and high-wastegate variant. See if you can find the low-wastegate map. Better still, get a protune. DaveWaters
Thanks! Very helpful.. protune is next on the list. Being that the car is auto, I think protune will be necessary for transmission longevity too.
