ReggieNZ
I got a 2008 Subaru 2.0GT with automatic gearbox. The AT OIL TEMP light started flashing this morning. I just bought the car from importers. It looks like the transmission needs an oil flash. Has anyone experience this before? The car has some info but it's in Japanese. What can i do to rectify this fault?
MilesA
Have you checked your ATF level? There is a dipstick behind the engine, may need some extra light to see it. ATF fluid change with new filter is something that you can easily DIY. We have walkthroughs on the site here. I can try to find one and link it. MilesA
Here's one walkthrough. http://legacygt.com/forums/showthread.php/diy-5eat-atf-flush-197248.html There are also instructions on this site for reading trouble codes from the transmission control unit (TCU). If the problem persists, you may want to try that to see if you can get more info.
ReggieNZ
Thank you for the link. I will check the ATF levels tomorrow afternoon when I finally finish work. I read on another forum this fault could be something to do with a brake switch.
ReggieNZ
I checked the ATF when I got home yesterday afternoon, it was just above the full line and it was a nice clear redish color. That AT oil Temp light has not come back on yet. It might have been a once off thing indicating something else being wrong. After I checked the ATF I went for another drive, the car shifted gears really rougly for a few gears and then went back to normal. The car drove normal last night and this morning. Hopefully all these weird things the car was doing last 2 days has stopped now.
