JazzAvi8r
doing a head gasket job on an 05 OBXT. I know the stock head bolts are stretch type so I will be replacing them, just not sure if I should go with OEM or ARP. the car will remain stock, so i'm leaning toward oem, but I've also heard of horror stories of boost spiking over 16psi and causing problems. what say you? konajesse
If youre staying relatively stock, save some money and go with oem. Shoot I reused the head bolts on my wrx forester a bunch of times and never had a problem.
MTBwrench
I would say if you plan on stage 2 and lesser power levels then OEM is fine. Above that, you'll have the ability to run 20+lbs off boost, and over the long term you may stretch the studs or lift the heads. Norskie
I re-used mine once at ~ 145k and run a stage 1. No problems yet (168k now). EDIT: I did recall that the re-use torque sequence and amount is different than for new bolts - don't re-torque used ones as if they were new (because they are already stretched). JazzAvi8r
yeah, I think i'm just going to re-use the stock ones. torque to tension since they are already stretched. thanks fellas!
