Bad ECM Code 231

I have a 2012, 2.5i that had the ecm and main computer replace about a year and a half ago. Now my mechanic is getting error code 231 which indicates a bad ecm. I have put on about 80,000 miles since the ecm was replaced(I use it for a pilot car,escorting oversize loads down the highway). My mechanic also says that there is an amperage loss from my battery to the engine. Going down from 900-511 amps. All the cables have been checked and he actually added another grounding wire to the electrical system but still gets the amp loss. Last time I took my car into the dealership, they had it for just a little over a month because they made a real mess getting it to work again. I would welcome anybody's thoughts on this issue.
