Boise2.5i build thread

Recommended Posts

Hey everyone, new member/first time Subaru owner from Idaho. Starting this thread to post any updates I do to my car as I go along, won't be a real in depth build and will probably be a slow process, but here goes.

About the car:

I have a 2011 2.5i Premium 6MT that I picked up last Friday. Never owned a Subaru before, but have had many friends that have so figured I'd give it a shot. Was looking for a newer Subaru, AWD of course, and preferably with a manual transmission as a commuter/winter car, as my normal DD/winter ride is currently down. The car is in awesome shape inside, and save for a few scuffs here and there and some hail damage on the roof the outside is fairly clean as well. I bought the car with around 117,8xx miles on it, and it's currently at about 118,3xx. The car was checked out by a shop and they stated that the timing belt had recently been done and that the only current issue was a slight leak from the passenger front axle seal, which I will be having replaced within the next week or two. Runs and drives amazing, and I can't wait to do some modifications to it, though short of an axle back I intend to keep it stock performance wise to keep it as reliable as possible for DD duty.

Mods so far:

-HIDs(Kensun 35w 6k, only running these until I get the time and funds for a proper retrofit)

- 921 LED bulbs for reverse lights

-Rally Innovations rally light bar with Baja Designs Squadron Sport lights

-Nameless 4 inch axle-back

-Rokblokz mud flaps

-Tein Street Basis Z coilovers

-17x7.5 OZ Omnias with 225/50/R17 Continental Extreme Contact DWS06 (Summer)

-16" Steelies with 205/65/R16 Nokian Hakkapeliitta R2 (winter)

Wishlist:

-Tint

-Primitive Racing front, trans, and rear diff skid plates

-Retrofit headlights with BiXenon HID

-Possibly custom LED tails

-Upgraded head unit to something with a touchscreen and BT as well as Navigation capability

-Upgraded speakers all around and a simple sub/amp setup

-Fix hail damage(if I can do it myself) and repaint roof if necessary(not too worried about it, so it can wait)

Other than that, I just plan to enjoy driving this along with my other vehicles.

On to some pics:

Suuurrreee... Bought the Megan axle-back I missed out on...

Good luck on the mods.

I just bought a month and a half ago a 2010 2.5i Premium with 14,800 miles on it. It is a CVT, and it is Black Crystal Silica exterior with Cream cloth interior. It has puddle lights, rear spoiler, alloy wheels, fog lamps and the cold weather package.

I already got the windows tinted, added in the factory under-seat OEM subwoofer, the dash tweeters and then swapped in a 2014 4.3" display headunit (PE669U1) along with a backup camera. I also fixed two bad puddle lights on the drivers side as well.

Honestly, for me, the audio system is more than adequate. I may be sound deadening the doors a bit, but that is about it for mods outside of a possible axle-back exhaust.

I may note that mine came with alloy wheels. Didn't the 2013 Premium come with alloy as part of the package as well?

Mine is a DD/winter car as well. I would rather put miles on the Legacy than on my Lincoln MKS. The MKS only has 58k miles, but repairs on that car are much more expensive than on the Legacy. Plus I have 20" custom wheels on the MKS with all season touring tires and I don't want to mess those wheels up in winter. Tires for the stock MKS wheels are like $1200 for a set, so screw that.

Beyond that we also have a Explorer custom conversion van with AWD. That vehicle is a tank. Goes through anything, so it gets the worst of the worst weather. It is high mileage (I think almost 210k) and has sat outside it's entire life (it is a high-top conversion, so it won't fit in the garage), so it has the rot going on it already. But it runs great (outside of an exhaust manifold leak), so it is sticking around until the MKS is paid off in the next year or so.

Dig the old school Idaho Motorsports sticker ;)

Have I got an opportunity for you my friend :D we need to chat. Hell I might even be your neighbor and we don't even know it! Congrats on the purchase

There's a screenname I haven't seen in a while lol. Unfortunately last winter claimed the rest of the IMS sticker. Thanks, I'm loving the car.

Hi Dylan, looks good! I sold you the exhaust. My 13 2.5i manual was the same color. I would appreciate it if you would leave positive feedback for me on eBay. I will return the favor.

Been a while since I was on here.

Bought some Tein Street Basis Z coilovers on black Friday and installed them when I swapped to my winter setup. Finally put my summer wheels back on 2 days ago, and dropped the coils down another inch (still have 3/4" left to lose up front and 1" in the rear).
