Starting JDM BP5 (Push Button Start) with dead remote battery?

Recommended Posts

Hi all,

I wanted to test how this would work. If I unlock the door with the emergency key without pushing the unlock button on the remote, the alarm goes off. All the instructions I've read are just basically

1. Open door with key

2. Hold key fob up to start button for a few second

3. Push start button to start car like normal

but the opening door with key part sets the alarm off

Edit* Ok, so if you arm the car with the fob then it's going to go off apparently. However, there must be a way to turn the alarm off if you use a key to unlock? Also, is there anyway to disable the alarm completely?

What's the owners manual say ?

You can get a replacement battery at most any store.

I don't have an owners manual and if I did, I can't read Japanese (should have clarified this is a JDM model). I know about replacing the battery. What I'm asking is that in the scenario where I locked\armed the car with the remote, how could I turn the alarm off after unlocking the door with the key.

The manuals I've found on the internet all show an ignition. Mine is push button.
Most times, if you cycle the key in the door from unlock to lock and back, it should disable the alarm. Also, sometimes starting the car while alarm is active will shut it off as well.

Most of my lockouts (tow truck operator) end up in this scenario even with a dead key fob.
