fox212
Hi All, I'm interested in buying this '98 RS and thought I'd solicit some opinions. Here's the car: 1998 Subaru 2.5RS Coupe New Engine My greatest concern is (probably obviously) the EJ257 with .004in piston clearance for "a lot of boost." New EJ? What ECU? Turbo? Was it tuned before driving? etc etc Obviously there is a lot of info missing, which I'm trying to gather from the owner. I would greatly appreciate any advice on specific questions to ask regarding the motor. I would definitely have compression and leak down checked by a third party, at a minimum. I've always wanted an "RSTi" and this seems like it might just work. Gotta sell the other 2 Subarus first, but maybe the stars will align. I am pretty familiar with Subarus in general, especially the EJ20 and EJ25 platforms. This would be my third Subie (2003 WRX, 2007 Spec.B) All thoughts, questions, opinions are much appreciated. I know it's not a Legacy but I trust this group's opinions/feedback more than any other Subaru forum. I like you guys and gals
Brady
My bigger concern would be his lack of attention to detail. Things like "no gas cap" because he drove off years ago without it and apparently never bothered to spend the $20 to take care of that minor issue. I wouldn't trust anything else was done right. Other things don't add up. It's got Colorado plates, but in California. Not sure where it was titled in Colorado, if anywhere on the front range where the majority of the population is, it should have needed some sort of emissions to have current tags (shows '17 tags). It seems like he's being fairly open about the condition, but a few things just seem ... "off".
