rodviar
Hi! I have had my 2012 Subaru Legacy for a few months and I love it! However, I recently discovered that below the steering wheel, there is a loose plug that is not connected to anything. Everything in the car seems to work just fine, but I am curious about what that part should be plugged into. Click here to view image of the loose plug. Any help would be greatly appreciated! cww516
That's the OBD2 connector, which is where you'd plug in a diagnostic tool to read codes and such.
FLlegacy
That's the OBD2 connector, which is where you'd plug in a diagnostic tool to read codes and such. I was hoping this was a joke...guess not! Welcome to Subaru, yes that would be the obd2 port, if you look under any dash of all cars made after 1995 you will find that exact port, most are black in color. https://www.google.com/search?q=obd2+port&rlz=1C1CHFX_enUS493US493&source=lnms&tbm=isch&sa=X&ved=0ahUKEwjC27aA4dDWAhUE72MKHeiUAOwQ_AUICygC&biw=1366&bih=

nads
Define loose. It should be rigidly mounted.
FLlegacy
Mine is not terribly rigid, the panel it is in flexes quite a bit.
nads
Mine is not terribly rigid, the panel it is in flexes quite a bit. I guess as rigid as the member they are bolted too but it shouldn't be tee bag'n the lower dash.
rodviar
My apologies for the late reply. The bolts that attach the obd2 port to the lower dash are definitely missing... so the port is basically just hanging by where the pedals are. As a temporary fix, I have used zip ties to connect the port and the lower dash but I'd like to find a more permanent solution. Any suggestions as to where I can get those bolts/pieces would be appreciated!
YeuEmMaiMai
Mine is not terribly rigid, the panel it is in flexes quite a bit. I actually thought they were missing a screw or something because it was so flexible
GTEASER
The port itself snaps into the opening on the lower vanity panel toward the left side near the hood pop latch. The lower vanity panel attaches to the lower portion of the dash with 2 or 3 pop-its. Is the lower vanity panel hanging? It is not really attached rigidly to the lower dash, bit it is enough to support he weight of the OBDII plug. Can you post a pic?
