Melting timing belt cover

It's sticky but it's not something on the cover, it's actual cover being eaten / melted.

 

I agree that it seems like battery acid, tho I don't see where it came out of the battery.

 

Only thing I sprayed was water on the I intercooler and radiator after every lap.

I have to agree, something spilled on it. That's not heat from the inside out.

 

If it was heat it would have sunk down.

305,600miles 5/2012 ej257 short block, 8/2011 installed VF52 turbo, @20.8psi, 280whp, 300ftlbs. (SOLD).  CHECK your oil, these cars use it.
