gtscooby
Subaru will tick on startup with oil light on for the first few seconds, but sometimes it keeps going. If i put my foot on the accelerator and just bump the rpms up to 1k it goes away and doesn't come back on. It only happens if the car has been sitting for an hour or 2. I have heard the oil pickup tubes sometimes have issues? any other ideas?
relative4
That or the pump. Fix it IMMEDIATELY or your engine will DIE. Do NOT drive it like that.
Moderators BarManBean Posted July 3, 2017 Moderators Share Posted July 3, 2017 Cracked (likely partially cracked) oil pick up tube. Bad pump. Clogged oil line somewhere (banjo bolt). Low oil level. All possibilities. Generally if you see the oil pressure light come on it's too late and damage has possibly already occurred. Have you checked your oil level? gtscooby
Oil is always at a good level, so yes it has lots of oil. It seems strange that its only on startup to me, its like it has a hard time priming the system, this is why I am thinking oil pickup. I will investigate tomorrow. How often do those pickup tubes crack? It seems like something that shouldn't happen...
