RochesterCanuck
This might be a really stupid question, but here goes: I bought a replacement OEM thermostat, and when I go to replace it, it doesn't stick in the water pump. I am using a new gasket, and it just falls out every time. Any one know what's going on? This is driving me nuts. (Yes, I am putting it in the right way)
RustyRuu
i'm pretty sure that's about right it forms to the space after being torqued down and gets stuck in there after many heat cycles. I will let you know tonight or tomorrow though since I am replacing my t stat tonight for an oem one. my new oem one came with a new seal/gasket installed on it (tstat) already. do you know which water pump brand you have? RustyRuu
i would say just run with it and you'll find out if its working, pretty quick after you begin bleedg the cooling system, and you can even use water first to see if its working properly if you dont think so. RochesterCanuck
I ended up using the gasket from the old thermostat. I know you should change it, but it actually looked identical to the new one. Surprisingly, replacing that thermostat was the hardest part of my day (replacing thermo, radiator, and all hoses).
