Skeen
Howdy, Is there any way to replace this rubber/rubber coated metal piece on the back doors? I've looked around the forums and haven't been able to find any solid answer on my question. The car is a 2005 2.5i Sedan, but I've seen this same thing starting to happen on my '09 Outback as well. It gets rather annoying to have to grab the loose rubber piece and hold it so it does not get shut in the door.
KRM
Did mine in an hr. Remove door panel, locate retaining screws, loosen the window glass retainers/possibly remove it all together, use a long skinny screwdriver up inside the door to release the clips. and reverse process to install. Not really hard to do. Sorry, I don't think pictures are necessary. It's pretty straight forward

zactek
I used a silicone weatherproof glue to glue it from the underside, been holding for a few years. Make sure to use a generous amount. Zack K.
Max Capacity
I replaced that horizontal piece years ago may be in 08 or 09 and did a thread on here about it with pictures. OP are you asking about that or the vertical strip ? 305,600miles 5/2012 ej257 short block, 8/2011 installed VF52 turbo, @20.8psi, 280whp, 300ftlbs. (SOLD). CHECK your oil, these cars use it. csaari
I've replaced those pieces on all four doors of my '05. They're usually referred to as Belt Moldings or Belt Weatherstripping. Very easy to do without taking off the door panel, took me probably 5 or 10 minutes per door. I did manage to drop a screw down inside one of the doors. Got lucky... the magnet on the speaker caught it, and I was able to fish it out with a telescoping magnetic tool. I don't have any pics handy, but these 2 posts do a good job explaining the process: http://legacygt.com/forums/showpost.php?p=2338479&postcount=42 http://legacygt.com/forums/showpost.php?p=2543525&postcount=59 (Thanks, Max! I couldn't find your pics, though.) I'll be glad to take some pics tomorrow showing where the screws are. And here's what I have for the part numbers. I believe they're good for 2005-2009 Legacy and Outback. xt2005bonbon
What I hate is the price though. This thing is not cheap . Mine are not split but the black plastic cover is cracked in many places. I did not think about plasti dip though. That might work...
rapture
Yeah if its just the black flaking off id go with plastidip But if the rubber is seperating and causeing other issues might have to replace Def check locally tho Might find a used decent one
Max Capacity
Skeen, my picture just show where I was able to push the rubber on both ends around a bit and get a screw driver on the end screws, I didn't remove the door cards. 305,600miles 5/2012 ej257 short block, 8/2011 installed VF52 turbo, @20.8psi, 280whp, 300ftlbs.
