KA81
looks like Lexus has a new lineup of IS's coming out here are some pics from http://www.clublexus.com/gallery/showgallery.php/cat/3374 http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v299/kokdahkjee/DSC09095_Medium_.jpg that looks like a dome light, but it looks funky http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v299/kokdahkjee/DSC09089_Medium_.jpg wth is that? http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v299/kokdahkjee/DSC09088_Medium_.jpg mmmMMM start button http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v299/kokdahkjee/DSC09053_Medium_.jpg shitomatic http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v299/kokdahkjee/DSC09047_Medium_.jpg seems like all IS's guages compete with watch manufacturers, never understood that. they always look like the face of a watch i was looking for an AWD car with a manual option (and fold down seats, this one probably does, after all it doesnt say Subaru) and this new IS caught my eye, but it seems like the AWD is only available in auto-shit-matic. i liked the 6 speed but im assuming only available in the RWD one. so it looks like ill still be saving up for the 2.5 XT 5MT :dm: any of your thoughts... http://www.clublexus.com/gallery/showgallery.php/cat/all/si/DSC09088Medium
NutBucket
The AWD 250 should be available with an MT but don't quote me on that. At any rate, it almost seems like that pic of the knob is for an auto-opening sunroof? Strange but I guess that's Lexus gadgetry for you;)

praedet
The 250 is available with AWD and MT or AT. The 350 only gets AT and RWD... It weighs more than us... Ted
emulous
From what I've read, AWD is not available in MT, and according to Lexus' website, you can only get the IS250 204hp/ 185 tq RWD with a manual tranny. Thanks, I'd rather have a WRX with those specs. Don't get me wrong, I think it's a great looking sedan, but once again, auto manufacturers are hurting themselves with the configurations they are offering. Just think, if they offered the IS350 with awd and a manual tranny, I'm sure there would be a lot of folks jumping the STi/EVO bandwagon for that. ChrisK
You know you've got a boring car when the most interesting pics are those of the dome light and the traction control buttons. Those vents look EXACTLY like the vents in the Legacy, eh?
legandrex
My brother drove a IS 350 and wasn't very impressed. He drives a TSX and said it felt as heavy as a tank.

05LegacyGT330Ci
I hate all this push button stuff that cars come with now. If its not a race car keep that gimmick out of the equation. I also dont like the new smart keys. We have that on our LS and its kind of annoying, I usually forget where I put the key and the car starts to beep at me and the whole nine yards. Have we gotten so lazy we can't reach in our pocket and hit the unlock button and then take the said key out of our pocket turn it in the ignition and off we go. Technology is great in cars but stop the senseless technology that does not improve the driving expierence in the least bit. IwannaSportSedan
Amen, brother. Technology for real benefit, even a benefit that is new = cool Technology for no real reason, or that enables or encourages carelessness/stupidity/cheap-ways-out = nah, not for me. ChrisK
I think the fact that we are all interested in the Legacy, and not the A6 or M5 or E55 means that you won't find many people here are ARE interested in neat features over performance. eles1
The new IS is stunning but it lacks torque, weighs too much, and is now priced out of what I would consider the "entry-level" category - even for a Lexus...
Euclid
The new IS is stunning but it lacks torque, weighs too much, and is now priced out of what I would consider the "entry-level" category - even for a Lexus... Well the IS250 is a 2.5L v6.. Not sure what kind of torque you're expecting from a 2.5L motor. I am dissapointed by the power of the 250. 204hp? I guess that's A4 2.0 territory, but still. The 350 is much much better. 306hp 277tq. Now that's a contender, but at >$40 for one with nav is a chunk of change.

My 2.5L motor delivers 250 ft*lbs of torque - less than that in a heavier car is definitely lacking.

Avishar
someone whose driven the old IS please agree with me, reading those gauges is harder than reading websters dictionary backwards in slow motion. Any improvement they did to this one has to be better than the old one, the basic consumer base gives away the impression that the car left. All I ever see driving that car is punk teenage kids who are leaned over the shifter like they are about to give it oral satisfaction and wearing their baseball caps backwards, stopping only at redlights to race Odysseys and bust out their "Cha Cha Slide" CD, they are either that or they work at chipotle and put big NOS stickers on the back with their modified NOS powered Bazooka tubes... MUD
The 2.5L V6 in the IS is NOT the 2.5L BOXER that comes in the LGT! There IS a difference in the TYPE of motor that's producing the power! It is the disposition of men to desire that which he cannot have, hence my un-quenchable wet desire for Shakira!

Agreed the IS is lacking Tq and Hp but its not because it has a 2.5l engine. Toyota just decided to tune it that way. Im sure they could have gotten alot more out of it IF they werent such a philosphically conservative company.
BrownBoy
I drove an IS350 today. I was considering this my next car; once I'm out of school. Probably not anymore. The thing is slooow. For the money, I'd rather get a LGT and mod the snot out of it. There was a 250 that stickered ~32,500. It wasnt too bad for the price, but it would not deliver in the performance dept. And does this thing make you feel like you are not driving?! I had almost no feedback from the car, it was dead silent. Almost didn't realize I was redlining once. Very luxurious though...you know your in a Lexus.
Euclid
Really?? Who cares how you get there?? The fact remains, that the IS is lacking torque - especially the 2.5L version. Um I'm just stating that an NA car with a 2.5L engine producing ~180tq isn't bad. The NA 2.5L subbie engine is in the 160 range. And comparing a forced induction car to an NA car in power production numbers is a poor comparison. I agree that the IS250 is under powered, but saying it lacks because an equal displacement motor that's turboed makes more is stupid.

The cars (LGT/IS 250) are in the same general price range and target the same buyer demographic. Not directly comparing the two engines/drivetrains would be "stupid".
