DIY: Hardwired Dash Camera Install on 6th Gen

Recommended Posts

This write-up isn't going to be as in-depth, so I apologize, but if you have any questions just let me know and I'll explain.

Here's the camera I got, as well as the hardwiring kit.

First off, pull the trim off. Just grab the top and pull straight out. There's a plastic thing holding it on and I assume it's in case of an accident. It's easy to take off.

Take off the fuse panel door. Use a straightened coat hanger and fish it down starting at the top. Tape the end of the micro USB onto the hanger, and slowly fish it through.

Next, get the Add a Circuit all set up. The slot closest to the prongs (in this case the 20) replaces the fuse you're tapping into, and the other slot is for the camera fuse (the 3). I used fuse slot #8 which is A/C IG.

Ground the other wire on an available bolt.

Tuck away the excess wire into the headliner.

That's basically it! I know there aren't many pics, but this time I just wanted to get this done. Let me know if you have any questions.
