HID Ballast Install Pics

I know there are pics of HID installs but this thread is for ballast installs. I think our Legacy do not have much room for ballast placement so post away to prove me wrong. I recently got an Xtec kit and I would like to get ballast install ideas from you guys.

I found a nice place on the passenger side that I could bolt the ballast to. It works out nice. I'll have to get some pictures. The driver side is pretty securely mounted with automotive trim tape, but the passenger side came loose. You'll see the hole I'm talking about if you move the air scoop thing. There is a grounding wire attached there. Depending on the design of your ballast you can attach it there.

I think I already have a solution for the passenger side. I plan on using 2 flat bars that wil each attach to the 2 screws securing the air box next to the fender. The ballast will then sit inside the fender. For the driver side, it is pretty tough because of the battery and the fuse box.

i have really small hella units and used velcro to hold them under the lamps on both sides. however most ballasts wont fir like that on the passenger side, but there is a ton of room aroung the air box

Can someone please take some pics... I'm waiting for my 6K X-tec kit as well. Patagonian, I wish I had known that you had xenons, I would have checked it out when I met you for our Front Royal drive.

Any of you guys have the X-tec kit?

i just threw my XTEC 6000k kit in lastnight- i was getting lazy with the balasts cause it was already 2am but i mounted the pass. side to the horn bracket with a nut on an existing bolt and a large ziptie around the entire thing, the drivers side i just double-sided taped it on top of the windshield washer reservoir and ziptied it was well......

I used double sided tape as well as zip ties to mount my ballasts to the back side of the bumper beam, I dont have a pic of this but, it seems to be working very well.

I've had my HID's for about 6 months and have never seen any condensation inside the driver side housing (the one with 2 screws in it). Since the screws were small, I just popped them in without drilling. This leaves a nice tight seal. The screws were around 1/2" in length. You can't go much longer as the screw will puncture the inner housing, and then be visible.

The passenger side was attached to the body directly below the passenger side headlight housing with a self tapping screw. There wasn't enough room for screws on the other side of the ballast, hence the zipties.

Waxiboy -

Condensation/moisture shouldn't be a problem....

I actually now have two holes in each of my headlamp housings (from various projects), and through many direct-spray car-washes ( and trust me, I truly "hosed" the area with my garden nozzle  ) and a week's worth (and still going! yuk) of non-stop rain here in NE-Ohio, at times quite heavy, I've yet to notice any problems.

You should be just fine with brother Boostjunkie's install method. :) Especially as my drilled holes are in much more "vulnerable" areas, and as they are not "self-sealed" by any screws going through/in them.....
