replacement ECU

The OEM ECU is at its limit

Unless you're doing something really crazy (twincharging, H6 twin turbo swap, WRC style antilag, ect) I seriously doubt that. Based on your post history it looks like you're running a pretty big rotated twinscroll setup.

Worst case you'd need to MerpMod your ECU to run speed density, but your ECU is already on the supported list for that.

Sounds like you need a new tuner.

MerpMod is not very stable. Mine was one of the earlier ECUs 'supported' and even simple features like FFS didn't work correctly then and still don't now. I love Merrill, he's a very smart guy, but he's not the best at getting projects finished. I feel for you OP, as Cobb is probably the best solution right now for SD on the stock 32bit ECU, but they only support USDM cars of that generation.

I don't know of any plug and play solutions for you that can communicate with CANbus. Syvecs do a plugnplay harness for the '08~ STi that comes with a CANbus interface module that handles HVAC, VDC, ABS etc. Perhaps you can contact your Syvecs dealer to see if they will adapt an S6 or S6+ to your Spec B. If you have access to a packet sniffer it will speed things up with the CANbus interface.

Can just go for a fairly basic aftermarket ECU and keep the OEM one aswell for canbus stuff. Working through that process for mine now. Certainly not a simple task as you need to make a seperate loom to cut inbetween the OEM loom and the OEM ECU with some inputs/outputs going to both and some going to one or the other.

Could you post your ECU CALID? I'd look into whether or not you could use a USDM ROM and then tune in SD via Cobb AP.

Syvec's gave me a straight NO

Ask LINK. They have a G4+ model that does CANbus integration on WRX models.

Or Haltech, since they managed to get it fully working in a 4th gen for MCM.

I'm doing a G4+ in mine. Was told I could get it running as a standalone but the packet sniffing for CANBus was going to cost an absolute crap load so not bothering with that route.

Only if using a race dash meets your criteria for 'fully working '.

mmmh. I thought they were able to get the speed and rpm working on the stock cluster. But I recall seeing the coolant and/or fuel gauges pegged to the max values.

No, they used a race dash, though they didn't really highlight that part of the build.

Check out this video at the 10-11 second mark.

Actually, even the screenshot provided by youtube shows it right there. Interesting.

Ah, interesting. Maybe the race dash was in the 3rd gen wagon they started with and in the 4th gen they were able or willing to integrate? I definitely saw a race dash in the car in at least one episode.

Thats what i was meaning. When they first finished the episodes bugger all worked as they hadn't done the canbus decoding and everything was on the racedash where the cubby usually sits. But they did that update where they'd decoded what seemed like all of it

Yeah. I think that race dash was with the original 'gramps' car.

Oh. They did put it in the 4th gen then.

But look at the coolant gauge. It is pegged to hot. I can also see the 'ErHc' message showing up on the screen of the trip odometer. But it looks like they got almost everything else working on the oem cluster.
