(best educated guess spun rod bearing) Anyone here interested in quoting me to send them the car, fix, and I'll ship back?
KRM
I'm sure you could get a great price on a new short block on here with one of our vendors. It's not terribly difficult to pull the engine and bring both the long block and new oem SB to a good Subaru shop to swap all parts over and back together in reverse order. There's a lot of support and knowledge here for the parts and troubleshooting. I've removed and replaced mine 2x sense 2007. Without the info and help of members this community, I wouldn't be driving it today.
Fredmatic
That does seem to be the correct direction, based on the forum info and suggestions. My challenge is I have another project already in the works, and do not have the space and time to do the R/R myself. If I can find someone within a reasonable distance (I own an auto transport company) and that would charge a fair price for reputable work, I may consider it.
