How much boost

The CVT on this car is not the high-torque version as in the turbo and 6cyl models. Have a look at the AVO kit for the XV, that will give you an idea on how much torque it will take as you have the same trans. As starionesir mentions, you are much better off simply buying the car you want. You will likely be disappointed in the end result, which will also be a dead-end in terms of further power growth, it will end up more expensive than you think, and you'll destroy the resale value of the car. Ditch it and get a LGT instead.

the end result is not feasible, No kits for the 2014 2.5i. There are a few 4thgens w/ AVO members who seem to be content with their car at 200-220 whp. It depends more on the troubleshooting/mechanical aptitude of the individual taking the job on.

There is a kit for the FB20 in the XV/SH5 which could be adapted but still I think the cost/benefit ratio is very poor.

Adapting a kit to another platform that was engineered for a light SUV would be costly, sure. That's where many unknown variables would show up. A dedicated NA-turbo kit is straight forward and reliable, for the most part. Irrelevant at this point as we're talking 5thgen.

Well, the OP asked about turbocharging and adapting the AVO FB20 kit is the easiest way I could think of. Whether the kit was designed for a light SUV / crossover or whatever is irrelevant. What is relevant is that the header, exhaust and intake parts all fit straight into the Legacy's slightly larger engine bay, and it has been done. As to reliability, well I wouldn't call the base FB25 unit reliable if I were being brutally honest about it... I've seen such piles of broken ones sitting around it should make Subaru blush.

A lot more parts are common than you'd think.

I was referring to the stock parts, many of which have either the same part numbers or clearly will bolt right up.

I asked AVO about the kit. It seems the Legacy owners have either been slower or more cautious and no one has even approached them about doing such a thing. I know a few people have done EJ swaps into 6th gens though. Different kettle of fish but it demonstrates how much of a Lego set it is.

These kits are engineered for an FB20, Negating the Lego theory. Different displacement, not a good idea. Irresponsible way to spend $3400, regardless of what is easiest or "could" be adapted. I'm sure AVO would be happy to sell the kit to a foolish Legacy owner. It's not up to them to tune it.

I think you've gotten the wrong idea friend. Read my first post on this topic, where I expressly warned against turbocharging an n/a model at all. Not Lego huh? Tell that to the guys who dropped an FB25 crank straight into an FA20 motor with no mods to it. Go find another leg to piss on.
