Gigs 2006 Legacy GT Limited Wagon and STi Wagon

Recommended Posts

Quite a lot , fixing all the other rust and body issues cost more than a used bugeye but it was worth it.

That is why I am so hesitant of doing things to my Legacy , I would rather find a nice shell to build the ultimate LGT daily driver.

Brembos

S402 parts

5AT or 6mt

EJ20X/Y

Billstein HD suspension

2003MY STi Spec C 17x8 +50 wheels

Just a comfortable wagon to drive around to work with adequate torque to surprise all the local Chargers.

I also kinda want to build a BMW E39 M5 wagon clone with an LS3 / LS6 in it.

Knowing my history I will go overboard with either

You sound exactly like me. I said all that almost verbatim and two years later my wagon is far, far beyond that point. Have fun! :)

I am lucky to have my Wrx to beat on to get it out of my system.

I'm trying to keep my Legacy as stock as possible. It is taking quite a bit of willpower...

Its rather tough but I keep a picture of a BMW E39 M5 as my work background so I can be reminded of future wagon project 2.0

M5 Wagon !

ftfy

That is a possible option as well but it would have to have AC , Heat and all the normal creature comforts to be considered.

Also have WRX wagon to beat on. Unfortunately, blew the motor at a trackday and need to swap...

EJ207 time !

That would be great, but there's no way to pass NYS inspections with an EJ207 ECU.

People have done it before by having a usdm Wrx ecu with a safe tune on it in california

Wait, people run the EJ207 w/ AVCS off the 02/03 WRX ECU?

Of course a bunch of guys swap the USDM ecu for testing

Pretty sure they're running both ECU's, or swapping the USDM for a basic tune that will pass inspection. Def need the JDM ECU to run AVCS, at least I did in my spec C swap. This was back in '05 tho!

Yep , That is how you do it.

I had no choice but to drive the wrx into work today

These AST coilovers are amazing even on our horrible roads.

So it seems the car is going to take another turn as I drove it for four days straight and over 200 miles. I really enjoy driving it but its still a little harsh for our horrible Michigan roads.

So now it seems we are going to go about making an S20X wagon but with more luxury. Were talking power folding mirrors , Recaro sportster style seats , automatic AC and sound deadening all over. This can all be done while keeping the car under 3200 pounds due to weight reduction in the bumper beams and suspension components.

Suspension spring rates will likely be dropped down to 7k/6k or possibly even lower pending advice from Turn in concepts.

The car will still be very track capable so essentially the goal is to make a very well rounded car that can see use in all the nice weather months from April to October while not spending $1000s to become time attack competitive. That way I can also save for one of my dream cars which is an E39 BMW M5.

Over the next year I plan on transforming the car from more of a weekend track car to an all around performer like the Stubaru. Spring rates are going to change along with a quieter exhaust and sound deadening to make the Wrx into a track ready summer daily driver. I am still going to keep the Legacy to drive during winter and on days I don't feel like driving a manual. The end goal is a car that still weights under 3200 pounds yet is track capable , quiet on the street and enjoyable to drive to work. I also want to start saving for some sort of BMW M car or a Porsche , ideally a Cayman S or E39 M5.

What has your overall experience been with TiC?

I just dropped my car off there last week for a "beefy badger" install.

Excellent

Eric Z and Clint are awesome , I will miss Kent in the office as well. They are more on the expensive side but they are one of maybe a dozen shops in North America that I would feel safe leaving my car.

Wandered out to Spartan Stadium in Lansing for a wedding with the Legacy and it rolled over 143,000 miles during the trip. People seem to have all sorts of issues with these cars but when maintained and given regular oil change intervals they seem to be perfectly fine. Literally the only downside so far is the sub 25mpg fuel economy.

I also found my interior for the Wrx stored up in my parents garage when I visited , hopefully I can get that back into the car after some additional sound deadening soon.

Oil tests from the Wrx and the Legacy !

Turns out redline can go for way longer intervals , Perhaps even the entire summer with how I drive.

Went to a local cars and coffee last weekend that caters to all the local automotive people with none of the idiots that normally come with these types of events. Then did lunch with our local group of Subaru owners.
