Tires for 18x8.75 +33

Recommended Posts

Hello everyone! Mods, I wasn't sure if I should post here or in the official aftermarket wheels thread, as I feel that most of those people are 4th Gen owners and their fitment may be different. Feel free to move if necessary.

Anyway, I just bought a set of XXR 530 18x8.75 +33 wheels for my '11 GT. I was wondering if I could get away with a 235/45R18 on them without any issues. I am currently stock ride height, but may lower a small amount in the future. I live in Cleveland, and so the roads are pretty much trash all year round, and would prefer to have the higher aspect ratio. Additionally, my speedo already reads too fast, so I would prefer not to decrease the OD, and throw it off even more.

As always, any input is appreciated, and sorry if this has been discussed before.

You should be fine with 235/45. However the tires won't look square with the wheels, but will give you more fender clearance, you may still need to at least roll the fenders for reassurance.

For future reference goto http://www.willtheyfit.com and fill in your specs.

Here is a link to stock GT wheels vs your setup

Thanks for the response. I've used that site, but it doesn't really give a good indication of fender clearance, especially while turning. I figured it would help with fender clearance, but not look too stretched, as that is not my goal. I couldn't seem to find any pictures of this size tire on 18x8.75 wheels, though, so I am not certain how stretched it will look.

I've got XXR 550s 18x8.75 +36 with 245/40/18s I'm lowered about 0.8"-1" with no issues. I'm gonna go 255/40/18s with my next set of rubber

Did you roll or pull the fenders? I'd be interested to see how that set up looks. I'd rather have a slight stretch than have the tires marshmallow out at the sidewall (I believe that to be the technical term:lol:). Do you have any idea when you will be doing this? I have all winter to pick out tires
