covertrussian
Was driving on the highway yesterday when the VDC light kicked on and Brake light started flashing. Usually this is accompanied with a CEL but mine's not on, and RomRaider wasn't seeing any CEL's either. Cruise control works fine, can't turn on hill climb or traction control though. Has anyone seen something like this? Searching the FSM haven't found anything that could be related. Some threads mentioned getting this with LED brake lights, but all my bulbs are incandescent. 05 LGT 16G 14psi 290whp/30mpg (SOLD) 12 OBP Stock 130whp/27mpg@87 Oct 00 G20t GT28r 10psi 250whp/36mpg 22 Ascent STOCK
covertrussian
One thing that might be related is, the right tie rod was 5mm longer then the left one. I adjusted both sides to be equal and got it to have just about zero. I wonder if these cars are sensitive enough to even toe adjustments, I'm not sure why, but perhaps VDC needs to be zeroed to a new toe location of the steering rack? 05 LGT 16G 14psi 290whp/30mpg (SOLD) 12 OBP Stock 130whp/27mpg@87 Oct 00 G20t GT28r 10psi 250whp/36mpg 22 Ascent STOCK
covertrussian
Looks like it might be light bulb related, that would be a very dumb way to say you need to replace your bulb, oh Subaru . Related post where a guy had the similar issue that got fixed after replacing bulbs. http://www.subaruoutback.org/forums/104-gen-4-2010-2014/44368-vdc-warning-light-flashing-brake-light-2.html#post483048 http://www.subaruoutback.org/forums/66-problems-maintenance/44435-problem-vdc-warning-light-flashing-brake-light-2.html#post1573649 I checked my bulbs quickly, as best as I could by myself, so far nothing but will have the wife press the pedals as I check tomorrow. 05 LGT 16G 14psi 290whp/30mpg (SOLD) 12 OBP Stock 130whp/27mpg@87 Oct 00 G20t GT28r 10psi 250whp/36mpg 22 Ascent STOCK
covertrussian
Checked all of the bulbs with the wife, no dice, all lit up perfectly. I wonder if it's one of my ABS wires, while doing the front LCA bushings my axle popped out, so maybe the ABS wire got stretched a bit, though I would expect ABS to show faults instead. 05 LGT 16G 14psi 290whp/30mpg (SOLD) 12 OBP Stock 130whp/27mpg@87 Oct 00 G20t GT28r 10psi 250whp/36mpg 22 Ascent STOCK
GTEASER
VDC needs the wheels speed from all wheels and if one is not right, it will throw a code. covertrussian
Correct, if it was a bad wire usually the ABS system would throw a code. What's interesting here is, I removed the battery terminal for hours (was doing some other work). Plugged the battery back in and the lights were instantly on, without even moving the car an inch. I wonder if a bastard mouse/squirrel got in there and chewed something up. 05 LGT 16G 14psi 290whp/30mpg (SOLD) 12 OBP Stock 130whp/27mpg@87 Oct 00 G20t GT28r 10psi 250whp/36mpg 22 Ascent STOCK
covertrussian
Forgot to update this, after a few days driving it reset it self. No idea why, not happy on magical auto fixes either. Guess we'll see if it comes back again. 05 LGT 16G 14psi 290whp/30mpg (SOLD) 12 OBP Stock 130whp/27mpg@87 Oct 00 G20t GT28r 10psi 250whp/36mpg 22 Ascent STOCK
