fullmonte77
Anyone ever had a oem thermostat go bad after like 28,000 miles? Mine is stuck shut and nothing like going bad in the middle of winter! The reason I got an oem is so I wouldn't have this issue! gimpydingo
Nope, those are supposed to be pretty beefy and not die any time soon. Cheap part and easy enough fix. Just make sure to burp the hell out of the system once you fill it back up.
NORULZleggy
when burping system, take cap off, with car running, let fans kick on. it should bubble. Next give it some gas and it should bubble or might bubble over. fill some more if it gushes out. After it settles, turn off car, put on cap. take the car out and drive it. I did this a year ago and have never had an issue with the OEM therm.
fullmonte77
Yeah I have no issues with knowing how to do the job. Just pisses me off that I have to do it again after 28,000 miles! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
gimpydingo
Haha I hear you. I have to tear my car apart again this weekend. I would love one weekend where I didn't have to do this. Maybe one day...
fullmonte77
All done new thermostat in. Checked the old one in boiling water and it was working. I think it was stuck and me taking it out fixed it. Tested the new one before it went in just in case. I have heat and no overheating now! We will see how it does on the drive to work Monday. It should fix my problem it was overheating and sucking the top radiator hose closed. Thermostat is the only reason I can think it would do that. No antifreeze in oil or out the exhaust.
