mdzowner
Recently i've noticed my car beginning to run a little hot as i sit at traffic lights and at idle for any extended period of time. i did a little research here and may have come to the idea the head gasket may be going. heres what i know: no milky or abnormal looking oil. coolant tank reservoir has fluid in it. new radiator new silicone hoses no leaks visible, from any hoses or from the engine area. no evidence on the ground. no oil leaks either. ( possibly irrelevant ) new thermostat ( grimspeed ) when i had the timing belt and all pumps replace, 40k ago no white smoke or performance difference of any sort. nothing unusual except the higher temp. details: 07 legacy gt 156k

gimpydingo
Head gasket and possible cracked heads. I went through the same thing. Had no signs except it started to overheat - that was after 20 - 30 miles of mixed mountain/freeway driving, otherwise everything seemed fine. I changed the thermostat and added coolant and I could never fully burp the system. It would stop, then bubbles would come up again. Finally took it to a shop and they opened it up to find both heads cracked. Good luck!
