Thanks for this thread. Exactly the poison I was looking for!

At least from here you can get an idea on fitment of various sizes/offsets and see how a number of styles work on our cars before making a commitment. I hope this helps.

Once you get your new set of wheels make sure you post up some pictures along with full specs :)

Wheels: 2016 WRX Enkei 18x8.5's like a few others have done

Tires: 255/45R18 Pirelli P Zero Nero All Season

Wheels look amazing, picked them up off Craigslist with stock WRX tires which I'm selling.

Tires were on closeout from Tire Rack, as far as I can tell they're smooth, quiet, and handle excellently. Will report back when I have more time on them.

255 is over an inch wider than stock and it looks mean!! From the back it looks very German sedan like width-wise. Much more muscular and sporty:cool::wub:

I was worried about tire fitment, however they fit perfectly. 255/45 is as large as I could possibly go (at least with +55 offset). No rubbing on the shock tower plate that sticks out over the tire - just enough space to allow sidewall flex without hitting it.

Looking good Andrew!

I agree with you that the wider tyres give the car a much more purposeful stance.

I'm running 245/45 on mine and they're fine. I think 255/45 does have a slightly larger rolling diameter from memory. I'd be checking your speedo/accuracy as you'll probably now run closer to "true" speed.

You'd be correct about the slight increase in diameter. I checked 1010 tires' upsizing calculator while researching, 245/45 is 0.66% smaller diameter than stock, 255/45 is 0.66% larger. Either way it's <1% so at 60 mph that's not even 1 mph difference.

255 is sexy, I'm planning on 255/40/18 tire

Can I check about changing wheel. Stock rim is 18x7.5 with tire 225/50R18.

If I am looking to go for 245/45R18, will the stock rim fit or do I need to change to 18x8.5? Does offset need to change too?

I believe it will be ok.. Double Check the 1010tire Web Site they have do much good information about Offsets and Tire Sizes.. [emoji41]

I respectfully disagree. I think 245 is pretty wide for 7.5". Even if it physically fits, you're sacrificing a lot of handling. Not worth it.

That's why I told them to check 1010tires because I'm definitely not a tire fitment expert.. I live on 1010tires..

No 245 width on a 7.5" rim is not recommended. Absolute maximum would be 235.

Recommended sizes:

18 x 7.5: 215-225

18 x 8: 225-235

18 x 8.5: 235 -245

18 x 9: 245-255

For 245/45R18 tyres you would want 18 x 8.5 ET 50-55 rims or 18 x 9 ET50??

The reason I'm not 100% on the offset for the 18x9 rims as these will be a tighter fit (and no-one has done them before). ET50 will likely be safe on the inside but will sit pretty flush. Fitment will be similar the these 19 x 8.5 ET45: http://legacygt.com/forums/showpost.php?p=5303593&postcount=35

If you go 18 x 9 ET55 it will be safe in terms of "poke", however you may run into clearance issues on the inside (strut). You're going into unchartered territory here. I'm not trying to stop you from doing it but you just have to be careful.

Looking very nice Andrew!

Sadly I don't think I can convince my wife to spend cash on swapping the wheels/tires so I'll drool over yours and try the plasti dip approach in black or gun metal (anyone used that "color"?) on the stock wheels for myself.

I'm young, no wife or girlfriend to deal with, I figure I might as well get my need for mods out now before I've got a boss overruling me:p:lol::lol:

IMO graphite would look dope! Someone on here painted theirs that color, plastidip graphite would give a similar effect.

And some Premium wheels painted with VHT wheel paint (graphite color & clear coat).

Thanks for the tip Andrew. Hear ya on the gf wife control thing. I'd do the same in your position ha!

I may just start off with the black dip and see how that looks first.. Seems like the graphite is something that needs to be applied to black plasti dip anyway so it would just be an extra step if I don't like the plain black. :)
