Richard Hungwell
Hi new guy, need some comparison info from drivers of these cars. I recently bought a 2009 special edition w/automatic. Love the looks and it runs great, but it is for lack of a better word, a turd. I quickly realized that the engine power and transmission performance are insufficient for my driving style. However my wife likes it so I quickly gave it to her. So now I am relegated to either my suburban (7.4L 4x4 gas hog) or my old stratus. Needless to say, I'm looking again. Seeing how I like the looks and feel of the legacy, I am considering buying another, but a GT with a stick shift this time. My schedule is pretty much 12hour nights 6 days a week this time of year, so test drive time is limited and I don't want to waste it on something that won't fill the "fun factor" requirement. TL;Dr, how much better is the GT than the Special Edition? Thanks.
battelready
It has a turbo and goes vroom vroom. They're literally two differnt cars in almost all respects besides interior and exterior. I bought an auto be more involved in my uninvolvedness . 200k+ Club If you can't blind them with brilliance, baffle them with bullshit. My high mileage turd. CTLeggy
Going from a 2.5i to a gt is a night and day difference. Especially getting out of the outdated 4 speed auto
apexi
I love my car, I'd try to test drive a stick shift non-turbo 4th gen. I have no doubt that gt's are a lot of fun, but a manual transmission can make a slow car a lot of fun to drive too.
Richard Hungwell
Oops, I meant to say fourth Gen rather than a fifth Gen. I love my car, I'd try to test drive a stick shift non-turbo 4th gen. I have no doubt that gt's are a lot of fun, but a manual transmission can make a slow car a lot of fun to drive too. While I agree a manual transmission can turn a turd of a car into a real treat to drive (see mini cooper), I would rather have the manual and the turbo since it is an option, and makes said turd car even more fun (see mini cooper s model). While this Spec b would be optimal, it doesn't seem very feasible. However since I'm not really hurting for a vehicle, holding out for a turbo/stick GT is a very feasible option. Unless the difference is negligible between the two. Previous posts lead me to believe this is not the case. Thanks for the quick replies all.
