csolivares1
Hello all new legacy owner over here like the title said I got a legacy gt with a 5mt originally the 2.5 gt, the previous owner swapped an 05 v8 ej207 into it. The stock center diff blew the other week and when I went to a subie shop for diagnosis I was told it would be cheaper to buy a used transmission rather than replace the center diff. I know I should do the 6mt swap but I need to save up for that, I'm not sure what tranny I should swap to in the mean time. Since I'm a new subie owner I've been getting confused on which transmission I should get to replace mine for now. The engine is tuned to 240 hp and 303 ftlb
Succulent Bass
Probably the best and cheapest option for now would be a WRX 5-speed as it is about the same but stronger, and actually would serve as a durable replacement until you went to the 6 speed. I would check out the Transmission sticky, it gives some information about the different transmissions that you can swap in. I'm not sure, but I don't think you have to modify anything for it to bolt up. Depending on which style of clutch fork your Legacy has there might be some modifications there, but I believe the WRX clutch fork would just replace it anyways. monkeyposeur
In order to get the WRX trans to work you would need the clutch master and slave cylinder with clutch line, WRX pedal set, wrx clutch, and have to mount the clutch cylinder to the firewall in the proper location. WRX trans is a hydraulic clutch. If you just want to get back on the road and don't care how long it lasts get a similar trans to what you already had. If you want to swap in the WRX trans I have a mint WRX pedal set I was going to use for a swap that I abandoned. Pm me if interested and I'll let it go fairly cheap. FLlegacy
I would second sticking with what you have it should last a while as long as you aren't going crazy with it. How did you blow the diff in the trans in the first place?
