alright so i replaced the clutch on my legacy gt with an oem one from subaru dealer and that made it to about 900 miles... after persuading the dealer warranty the disk and PP they took it and instead i got an 06 wrx clutch disk and PP but had to purchase the SMFW... Long story short after the second install for the WRX clutch set and SMFW my legacy does not want to go into gear when engine runnning... when engine is off i can shift 2,4 and reverse.... now with the car on i can neither shift into any gear or shift out of any gear... im all ears on ideas.... thanks

So is it stuck in or out of gear? Have you checked the shifter linkage under the car while someone shifts with engine off?

its in neutral but will not shift into any gear while engine is on...while its off 2,4,reverse i can shift into when and start the car in those gears BUT will not come out of any one of those gears once started

can you tell if the clutch fork is properly seated? if you remove the rubber boot and shine a light down there you might be able to see if the fork is on the "ball" of the bellhousing, and the 2 ends of the fork are engaged with the throwout bearing.

you can also try to push the end of the clutch fork into the operating cylinder to depress it fully.

The way I found my fork had dropped off the ball was by looking a slave cylinder rod, it must be horizontal and not at a downward angle.

Have you verified the slave cylinder is pushing the shift fork when you push the clutch? It could need bled.

Ya sorry forgot to update this... Friday night pulled it in to the shop and noticed the Alec cylinder rod was slightly at n angle.... Apparently while installing the trans the fork had dropped about a 1/2 inch and wasn't hitting where it should have been so pulled the bell housing bolts just enough to move trans enough to reposition the fork and life was good!!
