covertrussian
Clutch is starting to slip forcing me to shop for a new clutch setup (going to convert to SMFW). I've had good luck with Exedy clutches for my other cars before so would like to stick to them. Trying to choose between Exedy oem replacement or Stage 1. Question is, how's the longevity of Exedy stage 1 clutches? Is it about the same as stock, or much less? One post I read mentioned that higher HP clutches tend to not last as long due to heavier clamping forces, but not sure on that one... 05 LGT 16G 14psi 290whp/30mpg (SOLD) 12 OBP Stock 130whp/27mpg@87 Oct 00 G20t GT28r 10psi 250whp/36mpg 22 Ascent STOCK
covertrussian
Haven't really found anything on longevity but have found a post saying that it held 446wtq, which is impressive. 05 LGT 16G 14psi 290whp/30mpg (SOLD) 12 OBP Stock 130whp/27mpg@87 Oct 00 G20t GT28r 10psi 250whp/36mpg 22 Ascent STOCK
ras06LGT
I've had their stage 1 for about 15k miles. No issues so far.
seanyb505
I've had the OEM replacement for about a year and a half. I haven't experienced slipping, but it does smell of clutch after spirited driving. I'm completely stock. I bought it not knowing how it would hold up, and knowing I'd be replacing it with a stronger clutch before this one would wear out anyway. legend2
Stage 1 is a stock organic disc with a slightly higher clamping pressure plate. There should be no reason you could not get similar longevity out of it. Once moving up to a non organic friction is when you can expect a shorter life. covertrussian
Yup that's what I'm thinking too, seeing someone mention higher clamping force causing more wear had me curious though. Anyway ordered it, now gotta get a SMFW and I'm good to go. 05 LGT 16G 14psi 290whp/30mpg (SOLD) 12 OBP Stock 130whp/27mpg@87 Oct 00 G20t GT28r 10psi 250whp/36mpg 22 Ascent STOCK
