DGR81
So my rear catalytic converter decided to not be apart of my exhaust system so I had to take it off and unplug the oxygen sensor from the car. So I thought my check engine light would come on as soon as I started it. Put there is no check engine light on. Even when I turn the key to the on position there is no check light could the bulb be burnt out or does my car have one ? 95 Legacy 2.2l engine
ehsnils
Can be the bulb, or just oxidized contacts. It shall turn on when you just turn on the ignition without starting as part of the check. Unless someone has hacked/modified your car before and disabled the light. DGR81
I don't know what the back ground is of the car put I did see where it should be on youtube. It should be next to the 0 in the tack.
twisty
yup,my 95 definitely has a CEL in it. i would bet the bulb is burnt out, or a not-so-honest garage taped over it to get it past inspections.
DGR81
It looks like I might need a whole new exhaust system. Any ideas where I can get it ?
monkeyposeur
Rockauto or find a parts car. It sucks that they cut the cats off the exhausts at the junkyard. You need the entire exhaust? Like from the exhaust manifold to the muffler?
johnegg
why do you need a new exhaust? some trouble codes take two drive cycles to set. the CEL should come on when you turn the key, along with all the other dash lights, during the p.o.s.t, power on system (light bulb) test. DGR81
The second catalytic converter broke off and the rest of it is all about rusted out anyways. I couldn't but the old catalytic converter back because of the curve so in it's place I put a flex pipe there. There is a code for an oxygen senor but no check engine light. johnegg
if you buy after market cats, buy good ones. cheap ones do not last . your best bet is is buying used from some one parting out a car. 95 - 99 cats should work. your trouble code is for the rear o2 sensor.
