I got low comression on the drivers side (around 120 psi) and decent on the pass side (150 psi) and low vaccum, about 15 or so. clean plugs n stuff. Been watching youtube vids just to ready myself. Just wondering about brands and tips.
johnegg
amazon has good prices on gates kits. don't forget to replace the seals, cam, crank, and o-rings for the cam caps. you will not be doing this again for 60k miles. 95 ej22 with low compression on the driver side? (advance auto parts has a calf. spec, 100k mile belt , special order if interested) i would buy the seals from a dealer, local or online. less than 40$ for all, including water pump gasket and oil pump o-ring. wholesale or online about 20% less. i bought a cheap gasket kit off of ebay and used those seals. (rookie mistake) i bought a good t-belt kit from an ebay seller who also has a retail store. "the import experts"? or somthing like that, $130 shipped the timing parts worked well, the seals are leaking at 40k miles. buy quality seals. no need to replace the tensioner piston unless it is limp or leaking. they do not fail often. do replace all idlers. johnegg
FYI: NOT THE ARROWS, NEVER THE ARROWS. lots of pics and instructions here: http://lovehorsepower.com/joomla/ind...gacy&Itemid=64 it can be done in an afternoon. plan on all day, and have a back up car, or a friend who will drive you to the parts store, in case you forget or break something. also, i would start on a saturday , not a sunday. if something goes wrong, you may need the extra day. and other good info below: Thread discussing crank bolt removal: http://www.ultimatesubaru.org/forum/...ad.php?t=48091 Timing belt info, especially useful to those who might not have done it before: Motor Magazine series; starts with 2.2, then moves on to 2.5: http://www.motor.com/magazine/pdfs/072001_08.pdf http://www.motor.com/magazine/pdfs/082001_08.pdf http://www.motor.com/magazine/pdfs/092001_08.pdf http://www.motor.com/magazine/pdfs/102001_08.pdf http://www.motor.com/magazine/pdfs/112001_08.pdf 2.5 Liter DOHC timing belt: http://endwrench.com/pdf/engine/FtTi...ReplaceF00.pdf Thread discussing t-belt/idler/tensioner kits: http://www.ultimatesubaru.org/forum/...ad.php?t=95187i have not used these links in a long time, i hope they still work.
