Vengeance68
Just wondering if anyone else is into RC's here in the Seattle/Tacoma/Covington areas??? I have been into them since the early 90's doing scale turbine and electric helicopters, gasoline and electric cars and trucks, etc... Now days I focus primarily on scale off-road vehicle. Shout out if your close by and are into it! V Bringing the pain since 1968
Vengeance68
So by the overwhelming lack of replies can I assume the answer to my question is, "no"? Oh yeah I forgot real men play with real cars not toys.... lmao Bringing the pain since 1968

Shout out if your close by and are into it! V Bringing the pain since 1968 I had an align T-Rex 450 a while back, blew it to bits.... Used to be into a lot of the 1/10 nitro stuff when it was the craze, raced 1/8 truggy here in joliet a few times. I had about 15 at one point, spread across all disciplines from an insane brushless 1/18 touring car to a sweet carbon chassis'd T-MAXX with an OS .25TM in it! But alas, I got the ability to hot-rod real cars Now all I have is a super awesome and bulletproof Axial SCX-10, complete with 65t hand wound brushed motor. It reminds me of childhood! Vengeance68
Hey brutha... We just spoke on the phone the other day regarding your reman motor from Casey. Yeah, I live vicariously through my RC's when I don't have a real ride to mod. Right now I am in the middle of changing a few things on my Rock Wraith "99 Problemz", building my Wraith based FOFF "Problem Child", and working on my custom Yeti. My go to truck for fun is my Slash 4x4. And of course my quad copter. http://images.tapatalk-cdn.com/15/07/12/445c9b5bf2ca91bcf81102eb4b8ecd68.jpg http://images.tapatalk-cdn.com/15/07/12/5ddfc59793ab22f61f1a171230660bdd.jpg http://images.tapatalk-cdn.com/15/07/12/7c28e5e3ae03ce088b5c85744bca8ca6.jpg http://images.tapatalk-cdn.com/15/07/12/825b84332c0d0326d9f17201e98d46d2.jpg http://images.tapatalk-cdn.com/15/07/12/b2f718193b3bf144db7c0004a804b745.jpg http://images.tapatalk-cdn.com/15/07/12/3c559a772b9a1b41f1cf06b515780c5e.jpg http://images.tapatalk-cdn.com/15/07/12/987ca40859fb919cd3e394fa4277a6f4.jpg http://images.tapatalk-cdn.com/15/07/12/e9367d7f4acec28f46e883b8cc3d5659.jpg Bringing the pain since 1968
MTBwrench
Holy crap! I love your wraiths! I dreamt of building a brushless wraith at one point... But by the time I get the kit, spend on a brushless system, and go for steel drivetrain internals and scale stuffs... Well, that's a lotta cashola for a college kid. what touring car chassis is that? I used to race 1/10 nitro touring car, once upon a time for a few months. Really got boring though... As a kid I was looking for cool jumps and dirt. Now though, of the scene was still there, I would love to mess with suspension and alignment setups on a nitro TC chassis... For now, though, all I have is my trusty SCX-10. I just finished installing a wraith tranny, reversed with a dig setup, and moved the battery tray up front. That thing really loves to flip over it's rear axle on uphill climbs in the stock setup! I bought this wayyy back in 2010 when they first came out. I used to work at a Hobbytown USA, so horizon have me first dibs on a kit. Still running to this day, the only r/c I haven't dumped tons of repair cash into. http://images.tapatalk-cdn.com/15/07/14/833e5a7030874721565b688120f3fa73.jpg Ps- not sure if you have the dig setup, but I'm really unimpressed. I may end up going with an RC4WD dig m2 trans. Vengeance68
Nice looking SCX10... I have one of those that started as my first scale trail truck then modified it with an Axial Exo-Terra cage and 4-wheel steer with CMS front and rear... Had a Master Chief driving it and called it the Razor-Back. I have found doing the UD/HD, front wheel weights as well as moving the battery forward makes a world of difference. Your a feakin genius so I can only imagine how much you like tweekin the suspension geometry. I have never gone with a dig setup, I always favor a 4ws most likely due to my scale RC monster truck days. The drift car, Evo, is an MST I bought my son and it works well. MST is a newer brand but has caught on world wide quickly. I use to do nitro and electric touring cars. We use to have races in the parking lot at work during lunch when I worked for VERITAS Software. Nothing like beating a bunch of software engineers with a TA01 or TC4. My favorite RC's though are my off-road models. But I have more fun building them than I do racing them. My Wraiths, both the FOFF and rock crawler, have the Super Shafty Bomb Proof trannies. They are expensive but worth it. Not sure if you noticed, but those cut shock bodies with the red grills sitting between the seats behind the terminator are actual speakers/ear-buds. I have them hooked up to a BT receiver and I play music through them while rock crawling. The shock bodies amplify the sound enough where I can hear the music 20 feet away. If you ever get out my way your gonna have to stop by. J
MTBwrench
I actually used to compete in the stock scale crawler class when we had a rather elaborate layout at the hobbytown I worked at. I was pretty good at it too. But... Local crawling club had lots if restrictions for stock scaler class, including no wheel weights, brushed motor, no dig/4WS, and stock drivetrain etc. So in response to that I modded as much as I could within the rules. Flipped the tranny, replaced slipper clutch with a lockdown direct drive, overdriven front axle, battery up front, a $120 Hitec servo for steering(total overkill), and metal driveshaft collars because mine kept popping apart. Then, I got softer springs for the shocks, and slightly thicker fluid (35wt) to combat rapid frame movement while crawling. I even experimented with my own custom shock hoops to alter the axle movement properties, but ultimately went tried and true panhard bars. I kept plastic links and axles because they slid better, and almost polished then smooth with some 1000 grit sandpaper. It was quite the capable machine, and in the right hands it out crawled all the 1/10 comp newbs. Those days are long gone though, and now I spend a few bucks here and there making it more scale and more capable. My most recent purchase was a set of 1.9" steelies from RC4wd, which look amazing. Still deciding on tires though... Your wraiths are seriously awesome, I wish I had the time and dedication to to create something cool like that. It's been a whole since I built something up, and the itch comes back stronger every winter. I've been lusting over both the Wraith and the trail finder 2/gelande kits for a few years now. I keep talking myself out of it though. It's because I know, based on my last 10+ kit builds, that it's gonna easily be a $1k project.... Haha Ps-mad props on the speaker buds, it adds that last bit of awesomeness to the build! Vengeance68
Thanks Brutha. ;D Did some work on the FOFF today. Soon I will be mounting the trail rims and tires. But first I'll need to shave the treads a bit. http://images.tapatalk-cdn.com/15/07/23/3f002cecc1131c6f7a5708b228be5a3a.jpg http://images.tapatalk-cdn.com/15/07/23/32eee85e4529b064c6678ca982a7fde6.jpg Bringing the pain since 1968

cBax
Im just getting back into the hobby. Because apparently it's easier to freeze my butt off holding a R/C controller than work on stuff in the garage. Got a 2WD Traxxas Slash VXL for Christmas. Already busted a caster block, upgraded to aluminum and picked up a couple sets of different tires. This is my backyard track this past weekend with some paddle tires on the truck. My wife, son and I built most of it the weekend after Christmas. Now the ground is too frozen to change it much and now we have snow. This is my other "R/C" in my basement 1:32 scale digital. Far from done, but it's much further along than what is shown in these pics with full borders and paint now. Edit: It's ALOT further along now. These are older than I thought. I need some updated pics. http://i641.photobucket.com/albums/uu139/sti__this/Slots/DSC_0380.jpg http://i641.photobucket.com/albums/uu139/sti__this/Slots/DSC_0379.jpg http://i641.photobucket.com/albums/uu139/sti__this/Slots/DSC_0020-1_zps4dd55928.jpg '05 Outback XT www.facebook.com/baxleysspeedshop www.baxleysspeedshop.com

FLlegacy
I loved my RCs but too much time/money. I will get back in to them and just go simple! Lol yeah right. I started with a rustler then a stampede ( the most fun I had was with this truck), sold both for an emaxx, realized my mistake and traded that for a rustler vxl and slash. Then went all out for a brushless erevo. Which was hella fun but the time and energy to keep up with that wore on me very quickly. So I sold it all and now I have my LGT. When my daughter gets a little older I will get her hooked so we can go tear it up at the local track. I love the crawlers and scale RCs well done gentlemen and the terminator Lol! BrianEarlSpilner
I used to race quite a bit back in the day. And do some flying too. Now I maybe get one out once or twice a year to be nostalgic. There's an electric dirt oval about 3 miles from my house and I got invited last year to drive an extra car. Maybe I'll field one this year...

It's a Scalextric digital system. So I can have up to 6 cars on the 2 lane track at the same time. And with the software on the PC I can map the throttle and do fuel burn with pit stops and cautions. Can also profile each car and driver to set TPS % (50% for my son and the mag-less cars). 05GT Guru
I bash more than I race but I figured 1/8th scale buggies are some of the toughest cars and the fastest on dirt or clay. So I bash with a kit race buggy.
JustCallMeNick
I always wanted to get into RC cars. When I was a kid my older neighbor had a sweet nitro off-road one that I know nothing about. 05GT Guru
Nitro was the shit when I was a kid... now batteries have come such a long way there really is no reason to go with nitro other than the sound and smell.... which actually limits to where you can race or play. You can't run indoors with nitro.... you can't run in certain areas where neighbors will complain. Many parks around here don't let you run nitro. The car on the left in my pic, with my speed gearing and a 6 cell battery will do 100+mph. But I have to admit when I run my friends nitro cars I do enjoy it. The feel of the powerband is different. But maintenance wise/tuning... electric is so much nicer. I data log and tune with a laptop no wideband required lol.
