zahi Posted June 27, 2015 Posted June 27, 2015 Hello, I scraped the bottom of my automatic Legacy '09 while parking (difference in ground level) and now i have the CEL ON. Error codes: P1718, P0600, P0700 From what I gathered, it could be the oil temperature sensor, control valve body, or just a connector that's come undone. Do you think that a scrape at a very low speed could really damage those parts - I have no idea if these are exposed or somewhat protected from the ground. I don't want to take it to repair, and have the guy tell me that I need to replace parts without really having to... Thanks
orndog Posted June 27, 2015 Posted June 27, 2015 Why don't you just look underneath for loose or damaged connectors or wires? Or take it for an oil change or tire rotation and let them?
starionesir Posted June 27, 2015 Posted June 27, 2015 I'd look under at the transmission pan. Is it dented in? Any hanging wires. It obviously has done something to generate the codes. Hopefully you didn't crush the pan into the valve body causing damage to one of the various solenoids on it.
zahi Posted June 27, 2015 Author Posted June 27, 2015 I just looked at it. No apparent damages. Nothing loose (that I could see). After looking around, and turning the car back on, the CEL went out. It's probably some connector I missed, and I expect the problem to reappear.. Until then, I'm good - I guess
starionesir Posted June 27, 2015 Posted June 27, 2015 I'd get it on a lift as soon as you can so you can get a proper look around. If it seems to drive okay and isn't leaking then it shouldn't' be anything to urgent but I would at least have a good look under there to be sure.
zahi Posted June 28, 2015 Author Posted June 28, 2015 Definitely, next oil change. Thanks for the advice
Max Capacity Posted June 29, 2015 Posted June 29, 2015 FWIW, when I have floated my wagon on the snow, it will throw a CEL, after four start/stop cycles the CEL resets. It has something to do with the car being off the ground and the tires spinning at different speeds. 305,600miles 5/2012 ej257 short block, 8/2011 installed VF52 turbo, @20.8psi, 280whp, 300ftlbs. compsurge Posted June 29, 2015 Posted June 29, 2015 From my limited research: P1718: AT CAN circuit P0600: Serial Communication Link P0700: Transmission Control System Malfunction Don't look at your issue, actually check it. You could have damaged the harness. Unplug it at the sensors and plug it back in. Examine the wires for cuts. Check the bonding/ground wires. Check your battery and alternator.
