Andy_Mac's '06 JDM BP5 GT Spec.B

Recommended Posts

All those pieces came with the blackout interior. Originally got the whole lot including door cards and seats but sold the parts I didn't want on. Only crap part was that the wrecker didn't have the seatbelts so the pivot piece, whatever its called, is still cream/grey as it can't be removed from the seatbelt. The slight recess it has makes it hadly noticeable unless looking for it.

There's a few people who have dyed those plastic pieces but not sure how that holds up in the long run.

But blackout interior from which car, make/model, I haven't seen any black interior legacy's other then yours and I love it. Want to do the conversion to my sedan.

Non-North American market cars.

The JDM tbSTI came with the black interior, maybe the S402 aswell, not completely sure on that though. None of the standard models i've ever seen have had it though so they are quite rare to find.

Great build, car looks amazing...I just have a question about your interior.

I know and understand how to you did the pilars, but what did you do for the dome light, map light, visors, and oh shit bars? What about the sliders for the seat belts?

Obviously C and D pillars won't work for you but most everything else should.

I've been eyeing that. I wish it had been a sunroof model.

Ok so someone help me order this please.

I don't need the roof and some of the rear trim so that will be up for sale.

Create a Buyee account and use them as your buying service. They are who I have found to have the least confusing buying service. WRX USA also recommended them to me when I first started buying stuff on yahoo japan.

Damn, now you've got me hooked searching for ellusive JDM bling I don't really need.

Would love this set but not really keen to pay that much for it. Could get an almost as good result just wrapping the current ones for a fraction of that.

I was looking at that as well. The sheen side for that is it is fake carbon. It took me a bit too realize it too.

@Andy_Mac our car is so similar in look!

Sure are. Reckon you should look at getting a front lip for yours

I just want that shift boot, are there any other places doing just those? Looks like it'll fit on the facelift AT shifter

Think it'd be kinda weird selecting gears with that. Sure you'd know but anyone else would be stumped. And may not connect to the shift knob quite right either.

If I had an auto i'd go for this one, kinda reminds me of the BRZ one which i've always been a fan of.

Do you know of any second hand lips in USA? Can't seem to find one locally.

Not much of an update really.

The FrankenVF turbo has now moved on so starting to collect required parts for the real build.

Got a Cusco MCB a while back to get rid of that theoretical firewall movement. If anything initial pedal movement feels a bit less soggy, but marginal difference as expected.

35180134244_a1db1f908d_b.jpg

Moved the power supply for the tablet down to behind the HU on the big alloy bar/brace as the summer heat was killing the charge rate where it was. Should have a mild heatsink effect aswell.

Suprised others don't have the same issue as it seems that was the spot most people put them in.

Also got an Axxess ASWC-1. Install went rather well other than spending an hour chasing my tail as i'd grounded the signal wire to a piece of steel that happened to not actually connect to the chassis anywhere. After that was sorted it worked like a charm with its self learning function.

Only potential trip up is that the wiring is slightly different for JDM cars than what the instructions show. Seems US, elsewhere, other model spec cars have a separate connector which contains these wires where it was part of the main 14 pin connector on mine, colours are all the same though.

ASWC Red wire -> ACC power

ASWC Black wire -> Ground

ASWC Green/White -> Ground

Connector (car wiring) Orange/White -> Ground

ASWC Grey/Red* -> Violet/White

*This is where the difference is as the online and printed instructions say this connection should be to the Blue/Pink wire on the ASWC side.

And finally decided to track down the super annoying ticking the A/C was making.

Always figured it was gonna be a pain in the ass but turned out pretty easy.

Only needed to pull the glovebox and its upper trays to get enough access to get a stubby screwdriver in there to pull the motor back enough to free it up. Hadn't fallen off its track or anything but think the end of the track was just jammed up with extra grease and crud.

The bastard ticker (can't work out how the heck to embed youtube videos )

Haven't got as far as installing the STI pink springs yet but for those interested there's the identification dots for the two options I went with.

Front: ST2033021010 - 2 x orange dots - GT/4-cylinder specific

Rear: ST2038021020 - 2 x blue dots - Wagon specific

Did you install these in the end? I am interested on getting them on my 08 Legacy as well.

Yea they're in. Like the comfort but would have liked a bit more low in the front. Rear shocks are a bit saggy like most peoples so the rear sits at an ideal height.

No issues with them as well? I remember reading somewhere that these particular ones destroy your struts in the long run.

Where did you get them? I am in NZ as well but to me the options for coilovers and springs are somewhat limited here.

My goal is just to lower the car a little. Nothing too much that i scrape on every little bumps.

Na if anything they'd kill the stock struts less than other options out there which lower the car more and are stiffer.

I got them on CS as part of a group buy through fortyoneauto. Could try them for a one off or japanparts.com is probably the next best bet.
