Losing fuel pressure near redline

Recommended Posts

Having my car tuned through Cryo. Been battling a loss of fuel pressure near redline for a while now. I have gone from a Walbro pump with all sorts of O-ring combinations to a DW65c and have had no luck.

Recently installed a fuel pressure gauge after the regulator to see what its doing. I am getting about 32psi of fuel pressure at idle, 60psi of fuel pressure at about 20psi of boost then it goes down to about 55psi as it nears redline.

I am starting to believe the pump is not the issue. Maybe its the regulator?

I am unsure of how I would test the regulator separately from the pump.

If anyone has any suggestions or anything please let me know. Its been a long time battling this and im ready for my tune to be finished.

Here is a link to the video I made to send Cryo. Attached is also the latest datalog.

Read the thread, lots of owners had a problem with low voltage/voltage drop thru the FP module causing loss of fuel.

Lots to read. Looks like voltage drop is more of an issue than I realized. I'll keep on reading and see what my options are. I'm a fan of a clean install so I don't like the idea of running wiring to the battery. Looks like a sti module will get me another. 2 volts. (phone won't let me put that period in the correct spot :-/) Need to figure out the wiring after that it seems like. Thanks for the help!

Also you should make sure the hose from the manifold to the regulator is not leaking under boost. I had a similar issue with my external waste gate. Zip tie and superglue if you have to.

I will check the line as mentioned above. I ordered a sti fuel pump module and deatschwerks fuel pump hardware kit to get that extra bit of voltage to the pump.

Mine ended up being the internal fuel filter in the pump housing. Previous tuner tried new pump, regulator, hardwired controller, new top feed conversion kit all with no avail till we replaced the filter in the housing. Just another thought if you're higher mileage.

I have tried a different fuel basket with a new pump and still have the problem. I'm going to try the wiring upgrade next. Hoping that works. If not I'll look into the internal filter as the original had 80k on it and the other is unknown to me.
