svxak47 Posted May 17, 2015 Posted May 17, 2015 So I finally picked up a 2005 GT 5 speed 72k miles Garnet red in excellent shape with a full lifetime warranty. After reading about the stories about turbo failure and clogged oil lines Im looking at seeing what turbo upgrades are recommended basically replacing the stock with a more reliable unit and oil line mods. What vendors are recommended (Ive read about BNR for starters) and what oil line kit is good. Thanks in advance
racerj782011 Posted May 17, 2015 Posted May 17, 2015 Send a PM to M Sprank. He can probably get you set up with a oil line kit.
The_New_Guy Posted May 18, 2015 Posted May 18, 2015 "Full lifetime warranty" - Where can I get one of those? As for turbo, etc, it sounds as though you are taking the same preventative track I did when I purchased my '08 last summer. I started with a BNR 16G and IP&T oil lines (be sure to get the kit that replaces the AVCS lines also - I could have saved so many headaches if I had done that at the same time). I liked the bolt it up and go nature of that combo and the tune wasn't complex. But be careful, a new turbo is a gateway drug. I now have a new IC, intake, DP/exhaust, fueling, turbo inlet, etc, etc. Congratulations and good luck!
Max Capacity Posted May 18, 2015 Posted May 18, 2015 You don't need a oil line if you stay with a basic stock style set up. My vf52 has 65,000 miles with the stock oil feed line with both banjo filters removed. Read here, ask questions before you spend you money. "underdog" is someone your going to want to know, PM him when you want to buy something. Mike at www.AZPinstalls.com and Mike aka "m sprank" are also people to ask for direction and buy from. There prices are good and you get years of knowledge for free for you purchase. The warranty was offered during purchase as the dealer had a lifetime powertrain warranty standard on all used cars. I paid for the full warranty and it covers the entire car less $100 deductible. The car is in excellent shape just some minor interior wear.
Merc6 Posted May 19, 2015 Posted May 19, 2015 Got any pics of this car? My 05 is kinda mint but it's been parked for quite some time. 2005 Satin White Pearl Subaru Legacy 2.5 GT Unlimited 5EAT (Project Car) 2019 Agate Black Ford Explorer XLT 4WD (DD)
