DJBRANDER Posted May 12, 2015 Posted May 12, 2015 Hey guys i just did a oem tachometer install in my 98 2.2 Brighton and the rpms seem really really off. It "revs" super fast. I pulled the tach from an outback 2.5. Did i do something incorrectly?
Zues Marine Posted May 12, 2015 Posted May 12, 2015 did you get the red needle tach or the white needle tach?
DJBRANDER Posted May 12, 2015 Author Posted May 12, 2015 Red one to match the one in the car already. I hooked it up to my code reader and the rpms match! Its so odd
RyanFromSC Posted May 12, 2015 Posted May 12, 2015 What would you ever need a tach for??? I'm being silly of course, as my base model 5-speed has no tach!
johnegg Posted May 13, 2015 Posted May 13, 2015 what year outback tach? it should run 3000 - 3500 at 65 - 70 mph, i think. how far off is it? look for the part number of the tach for a 98 L at opposedforces.com/parts. then click on the part number, then ''usage info'' to see what other years used that tach. it is hard to believe they made a change to the tach in 98, but maybe.
Zues Marine Posted May 14, 2015 Posted May 14, 2015 ^^ I hooked it up to my code reader and the rpms match! Its so odd id thought the needle may have been reset wrong but hadnt realized he didnt pop it out
