reeceBMX70 Posted April 27, 2015 Posted April 27, 2015 I found a few toggle switches laying around in the garage and wanted to put them to use on the car. Does anyone have any good ideas on what I could use the switch for? So far the only reasonable use I have thought of is an ignition lock so you cannot run the starter if the switch is in a certain position. Any other ideas? PS: Please tell me if this is the wrong section for this type of post.
DonnyJagaru Posted April 27, 2015 Posted April 27, 2015 In my old car I had a toggle switch in the glove box that would disable the ignition. It was hooked to a flashing red LED light on the dashboard that made it appear as I had an alarm installed. Nobody ever broke into the car so I suppose it may have helped. Some other ideas for switches: - DRL disable (legal where I live) - Fog light on (override need for headlights to be on) - Disable all rear lights (illegal pretty much everywhere) - Air horn I used to know someone who wired his headlights to flash back and forth and installed a siren in his car. He fancied himself a policeman until the police pointed out what he was doing was illegal.
reeceBMX70 Posted April 27, 2015 Author Posted April 27, 2015 I was thinking of doing the ignition switch as well, putting the switch in the drivers side fuse box area or under the shift boot. Are these cars really that prone to being stolen? As for ideas, I was thinking more along the lines of interesting electronics or things I can add that are useful. I was thinking of something like footwell lighting. I definitely like the idea of an air horn haha, that would make a nice prank. It would also get people out of my way.
