PaSprinter24 Posted April 24, 2015 Posted April 24, 2015 Ok so like a complete idiot I dropped a cap to the top of a lucas oil bottle in my dipstick of my transmission. My first thought was to maybe just flush it out by adding fluid to it nd hopeing it would fall out the drain plug hole, I was wrong. The fluid is not goin going in the transmission at all nd has now just filled the dipstick. Is there a screen at the bottom of the dipstick so things arent able to drop in? Any idras hints or tips on getting it out without taki g the tranny off is greatly appreciated
I3eXa Posted April 24, 2015 Posted April 24, 2015 man that sucks....can always drop the transmission pan I guess
PaSprinter24 Posted April 24, 2015 Author Posted April 24, 2015 I would if it was a auto but I have a 5mt. Like I said I wish it fell through to the bottom but i cant even get any fluid in the tranny. It doesnt make it past the dipstick
762x39 Posted April 24, 2015 Posted April 24, 2015 I'm not completely sure how the piping of the dipstick goes down into the trans, but the first thought that popped into my head was: Powerful ShopVac with a long narrow attachment. It probably wont work, but you have nothing to lose by trying. Ill keep spit balling as I think of ideas.
compsurge Posted April 25, 2015 Posted April 25, 2015 Can you remove the dipstick housing? I seem to remember doing this once, but I'm not sure. One of the long reach claw grabbers or a long reach screw driver might work as well - just poke it and pull it?
PaSprinter24 Posted April 25, 2015 Author Posted April 25, 2015 Well quick update; I must have gotten the piece to go all the way through cause fluid is now going in. I tried a vacum line with a funnel and duct tapping the shop vac hose to the funnel but no luck. Doing that must have cleared the dipstick. Im gonna contact my mechanic in the morning and see what he thinks but im considering just buying 2 gallons of trans fluid and changing it once a week for 2 or 3 weeks.
compsurge Posted April 25, 2015 Posted April 25, 2015 Plastic vs. hardened steel will see the plastic lose. You can hope at least. But you do want to get it out in one piece if possible. It could break and clog passages, jam up bearings, etc.
Max Capacity Posted April 26, 2015 Posted April 26, 2015 Is it that little red cap on top of the nipple on the bottle ? I think the fill tube is to small for a bottle cap to fit down it ? 305,600miles 5/2012 ej257 short block, 8/2011 installed VF52 turbo, @20.8psi, 280whp, 300ftlbs. (SOLD). DonnyJagaru Posted April 27, 2015 Posted April 27, 2015 Keep flushing the tranny with the same fluid until it comes out.
