68BAJA Posted April 6, 2015 Posted April 6, 2015 Im swaping a 1991 subaru legacy 2.2 motor in to a 1968 vw bug and im making a custom exhaust to fit in the bug so i want to get rid of the catalytic converter which will set the computer into limp/safe mode right? so im wondering what i can do to not run in limp mode has any one used a cel eliminator like the weapon r will that work? or one of those computer trick things or sent ur computer to jet performance? i dont need a cat so why use one right
hybridandy Posted April 8, 2015 Posted April 8, 2015 I actually doubt a '91 engine would have a limp mode for a catalyst efficiency signal, at best it would try to throw a Check Engine Light (CEL). '96 was the offical adoption of the more stringent OBD II code. Most engines that old only have 1 o2 sensor and it's pre-cat (at least in the Honda world). Why not just run the cat? They barely suck up any power and you wouldn't piss into a glass of water your about the drink so why pump crap into the air if you can avoid it.
68BAJA Posted April 9, 2015 Author Posted April 9, 2015 I took of the exhaust yesterday and there is only one 02 sensor i would but i dont have a lot of space for a exhaust
