Official Platinum Grey Metallic Thread (2015)

3.0R-AUS

Recommended Posts

Greetings from Australia! As far as I know, Platinum Grey Metallic is available exclusively in Australia so it's probably not surprising that no-one has started a thread on this colour yet. I'm really loving this colour - it's dark enough to be highly reflective but not so dark that dust shows up easily. It also looks very contemporary and stunning.

Absolutely. That's a thing of beauty! I'm awaiting my 3.6R in Dark Grey Mettalic. I had the choise of the platinum grey which would have got me a car a few weeks ago. My current MY10 3.6R is Dark Grey Mettalic so I played it safe. A very difficult decision not to go with the platinum grey mettalic though.:)

Congrats on your car on order! I've never been so deliriously happy with a new car as I am with this one - even more so than my 2010 3.6R and my 2006 3.0R, which were themselves great cars. I'm sure you will love your new one as much as I do mine. :)

I just wish there was an alarm available down here, even as an accessory.

Thanks. I wondered about the alarm thing too. Looking at the '15 and noting the links Subaru have with Toyota you would have thought one might be offered. We also have a recent model Camry whose infotainment, whilst not HK, has very similar menu functionality to the Liberty '15. It also features an alarm as standard. Putting two and two together, you'd think there are other wiring and software similarities that are transferable. Its been discussed in this forum but the Toyota options like BSM, auto locking doors, mirrors tilting in reverse, parking sensors as standard etc could have been included. Guess they have to trim costs somewhere in order to offer the car at such a reduction. Happy with what I'm getting though. Trying hard not to keep looking at the calendar and counting the days! :spin:

Oh, noting you also came from the MY10 3.6R, how are you finding the CVT? Its going to be my first too. (The camry is the wifes which I rarely use).

I'm very happy with the CVT. I was apprehensive about it because I've read many road test articles that say CVTs aren't very good for driving enthusiasts, but I hardly ever notice any difference between this CVT and the previous 5-speed because when you use a lot of throttle it behaves like a normal auto with 6 fixed ratios.

Unfortunately Aussie-spec headlights won't be much use to you. The reflectors are different because we drive on the other side of the road. If you fit Aussie headlights you'll be constantly blinding oncoming traffic.

Apart from that, they would be very expensive and there may be other differences because US cars are either halogen or Xenon while Aussie headlights are LED.
